Fair comments both.  I'm leaning that way right now myself.  I'll make a ruling on that later, though. My main concern right now is getting this thing back up and running again.

Fair enough profcake, i hear you, exactly why I brought it up for discussion. I still think it's a cool idea though, would it be a fair compromise to run the '01 Rookie Auction as stated in the rules, and then switch to the Unit Auctions in '02 and beyond?

Meh, I don't see the point.  Just gonna create a lot of square pegs for round holes.

I don't anticipate starting back up on Sunday as I had originally hoped.  I'll figure out a timetable once we fill the spot.

I had another idea.  I thought we'd have the spot filled by now, but no one has expressed interest yet.   My proposal is this:  I give it another 24 hours and if no one expresses interest, we start back up on Monday, with myself and one other owner drafting for the 24th team.  The reason I need someone else is to avoid conflict of interest, since I haven't filled my team yet.  In the meantime, we actively seek a 24th owner for when we start up.  My thinking is that although the league concept is top-notch, it is complicated and some people may think it's too hard to get up to speed quickly on what we're doing.  In the meantime, we keep moving and the team is built as fairly as can be done by people familiar with what's been happening.

Any thoughts/comments/complaints/concerns?

I'm not horribly opposed to the idea, and would be willing to help you draft the extra team.

But the one thing to consider: is it going to be harder to fill the spot once the team is already drafted?  Im not sure, but I'll be sure to help you make it really nice for the next guy.

Yeah, that's the million dollar question, dean.  I know normally the appeal is in building your own team, but I'm wondering if the complexity of the whole concept is scaring people off.  I'm not sure what the answer to that question is, which is why I wanted feedback before we go ahead and do this.

We'll hold off a little on the idea of the league drafting the 24th team.  It remains an option, however.

Given where we are in the auction, it might be the best one.  But I agree that we should give it another day or so.

I think maybe we might get a bite if the prize at the end was advertised.

Good point, jonas.  Done.

I'm thinking if we don't fill by Tuesday, we continue with the draft and find a taker as we go.  I'm willing to wait, but not too long.  Any objections?
10/31/2010 1:03 PM
I'm OK with that.

I would object to having someone in the league drafting for the last team. When there is a gift card and prize being given out I think its a conflict of interest.

My role as commisioner is to do what's best for the league.  If we were to go through with this, I still need to find an owner for the last team.  So I need to make sure the team is as good as possible to make someone want to join.

Or we could simply wait indefintely.  If we wait a week, two weeks, a month, and people we already have start leaving, the prizes become a moot point, don't they?
