I mean, wow.  Just...
It's a real stretch to call this a part of life.
The mind reels.  It was YOUR PHRASE!

still, you have to consider the possibility that our problem with this post is that we are both on drugs. so... lucky us?

Cool. I look forward to using the "suck up to AAU coach", "spin some BS to the media", and "get the boosters to front Junior a car, but don't *really* get them to do it" features.

And the D3 version, "call your alumni and beg them to send you prospect contacts", "beg for money", and the always popular "call the office of admissions and tell them we really need this kid even though he got an ACT of 9". That one tends to work better at Ferrum than Johns Hopkins.

you know whats funny, most of this existed in this game (generally speaking) until popular demand had it removed. granted, you could make the call about the flunkie at johns hopkins just as well, but at least the ivy league schools were pickier about reputation? and while you could convince the boosters to front Junior a car, as you put it, you couldn't really give the additional instructions to "not really do it". i suppose that would go without saying, huh?

I was meaning the coach tells them but doesn't *tell* them...John Wooden-esque plausible deniability type stuff. And "fronting" is a lot better than actually buying...less paper trail, no money trail, and he can swap it out when he gets bored of it. Just have a big booster that runs a dealership and you're good.

So what you're saying is llama is wrong about what the sim is now, then?

The NSA might have be monitoring, so the answer should be "legal" drugs.

i was commenting on your interpretation of his comments. i think his comments are quite reasonable.

It doesn't contradict what I wrote in any way.

its a stretch to even say "might", but come on. just because some of us dont choose to live the old  "sex, drugs, and rock and roll" mantra, it doesn't mean we can't joke about it :) not to suggest it can't be both :) i like to think the government has better things to do with their time than track down people who joke about drugs on the internet... considering it would constitute a full time job for the 250 or so million americans who *dont* joke about drugs on the internet :O

But these are all things in running a college program, and apparently they used to be in the game. But now they aren't, making this less of running a college program than it used to be, and hence more a sim of the sport of basketball (or at least it tries to be).
2/17/2014 5:16 PM
No, it's still a sim game based on the things that go into running a college basketball program.  The fact that a couple of widely-disliked features were removed doesn't change that.

LOL you really overrate our government and what it has to do. I'd like to htink it has better things to do too, but too bad I know better.

Ever heard of Silk Road? Or Ross Ulbricht? How do you think the feds figured out he was Dread Pirate Roberts? They could have hacked his personal computer, I suppose, but more likely they figured it out from message board chatter. Monitoring message boards is a full time for quite a few people.

And people take screen captures all the time...witness the Trayvon Martin facebook screencaps that make strong reference to him being involved in the drug trade.

Great analogy - bullshitting on the HD forum is JUST LIKE operating Silk Road.  We are equally attractive targets, us and Ross Ulbricht.

You're right, people do take screenshots.
