This is a great story..NASA is sending a 3D printer to the ISS, this way they can print any plastic replacement parts on site. They are also exploring food replicator 3D printers. How long do you think before they just print the astronaut, then destroy the copy at this end and if you transmit the algorithim on a lazer isn't that beaming. http://www.cnet.com/news/nasa-flying-first-3d-printer-into-space/

Yep.. This will be the end of manufacturing, retails sales and warehousing once they figure out the materials part.  Why go to Home Depot to buy a hammer when you can make your own?  No need for huge warehouse space when you can make on demand.. Its an awesome invention but there are going to be serious repercussions

Before that there'll be stores that just have 3D printers, no stock, no shipping, no employees. If I we're still into investing I'd be on this technology like white on Uncle Ben's rice. My interest is in solid phase synthesis of drugs, in particular solid phase synthesis of viral medicines. I worry we're simply not wise enough to have this technology. I guess we'll find out soon enough...hold freak'n on!!!

This printing plastic is easy, they've printer lithium batteries, micro processors and my fav a functioning kidney. There are lazer 3D printers that fire into a pile of titanium powder and out comes a part. Daaaaaamn....

The factories will be repli-bots making repli-bots. Wait a minute I think I know how this ends...lol.

Can it print you up an Arlene Dahl? Then I'll get interested.

And if you can make all things (very) locally, what need for government? "Dammit, the neighbors are printin' a suitcase nuke, Thelma, so print up some Ebola and and a few drones".........

and this is why I'm worried...lmfao.
