What have 99% of Americans done to "deserve" anything? So why do you get to decide where the freedoms stop? You've said robbery, murder and rape would never be acceptable, but what if others decide they want those freedoms to be acceptable? After all, not long ago people said that things like homosexuality, transgenderism, supporting illegals, and many more liberal "freedoms" people have today were thought of as never being acceptable, right? Thing is, once people's individual wants (freedoms) start being put ahead of what is best for society, there is a slippery slope that is almost impossible to stop. The World-wide slide of this Country since we have started bowing to just about anyone and everyone tiny little groups' wants, should be a great example of that. The selfish I-want-what-I-want belief so prevalent in today's society will only knock the US down further and further, as it continues to grow.

I don't think anyone would want to live in this Country if we placed no limits at all on freedom of choice. I highly doubt you, or anyone else would disagree. I'm saying freedom of choice needs limited, just as you have. You want to limit it at a certain point and so do I: we just have different points.

FWIW, in the past there were many laws on the books against homosexuality, the other things listed, and many more that are "accepted" in today's society. Any law can be changed or done away with as the ones relative to those things were, so please don't pretend it's impossible. The more we lower the threshold for what is acceptable, the more slippery the slope.

If your listed age is true, I'd bet you heard "Respect Authority" many , many times growing-up. Obviously the people telling you that felt it was important for you to hear and do, so why don't you think so now? I do respect authority. I do respect policemen and women and members of the military. I will respect the POTUS until he does something to betray my respect. In my view, Donald Trump has done many things that make him unworthy of my respect. You feel differently, and that is your right. It is also my right to not respect Trump or anyone else I choose not to respect. Nothing you can say will change my mind, just as nothing I can say will likely change yours.

Yes, there were laws against homosexuality, and desegregating the races at one time. People (or at least most of them) realized that those laws had no place in modern society so they were changed. I doubt many people think laws against rape, murder and robbery have no place in society.

all3, I didn't attack you, I questioned your beliefs that we should respect someone because of the position he holds rather than because he deserves our respect. I have no problem with you. If we met, we might very well enjoy drinking a beer or two together.
