FC Dynasty Cup XII - FC Kingston - Champion Topic

OK, a couple of notes about the final rounds.

Both the 3rd Place game and the Championship Round have no time frame. The teams can schedule at their leisure.

A coin flip was done to decide which 3rd Place participant would host the game - it is a single game and not a series. If the game ends in a tie, both teams share the 3rd Place honor. Club de Fútbol Deportivo Cotopaxi won the flip 14-6 and will host (send the challenge) to The Shield of the Cow, the results are posted on the first page of the tournament thread.

I will do an additional coin flip tomorrow to see which Championship team would host the first tiebreaker game in case one is needed. The Championship has no seeding, so this is not #3 versus #4. It is simply FC Kingston versus butterfiles united. Congrats to the two finalists. It is very well deserved.

Of course, it was a 10-10 tie, so the coinflip went into sudden death.

Both legs of the Championship have been scheduled. butterfiles plays their home game on the 5th and Kingston get their crack at it on the 7th.

The first half of the Championship is in the history books as FC Kingston makes a statement on the road against butterfiles united in France this morning. After an opening feeling-out process, Kingston took control of the match when Aryeh Fröhlichmann connected from outside the box in the 22nd minute to give the visitors the 1-0 lead. Not to be outdone, Kingston defender Rayshaun Lozada added his own tally 5 minutes later when his effort beat a diving butterfiles goalie Adrián Jared to the left side.

The halftime whistle didn't change the butterfiles' fate as Kingston continued to control the contest. Quong Ikeda moved one goal closer to the Golden Toe lead when he scored his 12th of the tournament in the 68th minute off a nice piece of individual skill that placed the ball in the upper corner and made the lead 3-0. Right before the game ended, butterfiles forward Speedy Bell scored twice off corner kicks to end the game as a Kingston 4-2 win and give the French club at least a bit of hope as the series shifts to the United States on the 7th.

Both the final leg of the Championship and the 3rd Place game are set to go on Monday. Yenisey Krasnoyarsk's Volodya Zablosky and VB Hibernian's Mohamed Saylor are still clinging to the scoring title with 13 goals apiece. Ikeda is the only active player within reach as The Toe will also be decided Monday...barring sudden death.

Both the 3rd Place game and the final leg of the Championship are early AM starts...so Cup XII is about to wrap it up. I'll post the results after I have a cup of coffee in the morning.

The FC Dynasty Cup XII 3rd Place game was played in front of 50,929 fans in Ecuador this morning. Club de Fútbol Deportivo Cotopaxi enjoyed the overwhelming support of its home fan base throughout the entire game, even though the game against The Shield of the Cow didn't go the way they had hoped. Every time the Cow scored, the fans started signing louder, as if it was a World Cup qualifying match. Emerson Heçija scored twice and Halbert Labazares added a goal as the Cow Shields took the game 3-0. After the final whistle, the Cotopaxi fans gave their team a 20 minute standing O, then gave The Shield of the Cow players another round as they were presented their 3rd Place medals.

FC Kingston and jmjtrain out of World 80 have shown the heart of a Champion by taking the FC Dynasty Cup XII title, defeating butterfiles united and aubie8 from World 92 with an aggregate of 5-3. The opening game went to Kingston 4-2 on the road as they came back to the States to try to wrap up their first Cup title. Neither team had made the Championship round before as there were some nerves present once both squads hit the pitch. Che Cazorla drew butterfiles within a goal as he scored off a header very early in the 7th minute with a shot that Kingston goalie Abrahan Sabino should have saved but couldn't handle cleanly as it dribbled past him to make the aggregate 4-3.

The score seemed to settle down the players as both teams got down to the business of playing good soccer. Kingston almost scored a goal off a rising shot by Quong Ikeda that sailed just over the crossbar and denied the Kingston forward his best chance to grab a share of the individual scoring honor and butterfiles almost tied the aggregate when a Rogelio Olivo hit the side netting, missing the near corner by a few inches. Kingston finally gave themselves some breathing room when forward Maky Guerrero's shot in the 68th minute deflected off the leg of a butterfiles defender and rolled past a stranded goalie Adrián Jared. butterfiles tried one final rally in the last 10 minutes with several quality scoring chances but couldn't get the job done as the final score ended at 1-1. As soon as the final whistle blew, the 42,947 Kingston fans rushed the field to celebrate with the Kingston players their first Cup title.

The L'Orteil D'or award goes to FC Yenisey Krasnoyarsk forward Volodya Zablosky and VB Hibernian's Mohamed Saylor, who amazingly held on to the lead despite being eliminated several rounds ago. The winning goal tally was 13 goals and these two will share the honor in the history books. Take your hats off to our runner up, butterfiles united and aubie8, who had an outstanding run to the runner-up spot. Without further ado, the hardware will now be distributed to their rightful owners.
