The timed draft is going great. All drafts should start this way.

I used to work at a TV station in Houston that would show Rockets games, and sometimes Rudy Tomjanovich would come to the studio to record the coach's show. One day he was talking about Larry Smith and he said that in practice Larry Smith was a great shooter, from anywhere and everywhere, and then he would get into games and never shoot.

Welcome to another edition of Story time with Midge!

My uncle lived in Bastrop, Louisiana when Calvin Natt was in high school there. He told me about him being a great player in high school, so I started paying attention to his career. It was nice to see that he kept it going and had a really nice NBA career.

In the first round you usually need to give people time to realize that we have started. If you have a clock in round one and skip people they will quit. I am totally in favor of a clock once we get into the second round.

Wow Midge. Great info. "Mr. Mean" is one of the last players I would have thought would potentially be a solid perimeter scorer in the NBA. There are also stories that are out there of how Dennis Rodman was a great perimeter scorer at SE Oklahoma St and not really known as an interior player in college. It really shows how players adjust when they move up to that level to find their niche to stick around as long as they can.

You often wonder how untapped skills, either because of a coach's preconceived notions and/or a player's reluctance to realize his skill set, results in untapped potential. Then again, practice is practice.

Maybe Iverson was right.

Drafted Dominique but don't know what I'll do with him. Seems like an awkward combo with Jordan.

Here's another one. One time I asked Vernon Maxwell what it was like to guard Michael Jordan and he said if you guard him too close it just makes him mad and he goes off on you.
