Well just wait until our "behind the music" episode airs on ESPN classic next week :)
agreed, I never thought the defense would be good enough, but I caught some breaks in the NT. MacMurray (finals) was really the only team I felt like I didn't have a significant talent advantage over. Didn't hurt getting Dallas & Anderson knocked out early. I also caught some other breaks along the way. W/ all that said, we were pretty solid on defense thruout the year despite the tough schedule. It opened my eyes to what is needed to run a good man defense in D3. Prior to last year I would have aimed for DE ratings over 40 in a recruit, if not over 50. Now I'm looking for more speed and will tolerated lower DE ratings when needed.
Having Coomer around didn't hurt either. He was the true definition of a stopper that could swing b/w 3 spots. I'll probably look for something similar in this recruiting class, and hope they can provide the same level of offense their senior season (I think I may have found one should they drop to me, we'll see.)
