My last 2 classes were recruited so they could start at sophmores and definitely jr.s...
While the change sounds good, I share this concern. It will be implemented immediately, but will it have the same effect on current roster players and recruits as it does on future classes?

as has been said many times, this is College Hoops. this is their potential for the four years that they are in school. sure that might not be 100% real life accurate, but it's NOT real life. it's a game, a college based game at that..

Jimmy, Jimmy, Jimmy. My point is that improvement does not cease entirely if a player practices and works hard...at least in basic skills. Ask any coach, or teacher, or employer. No, this is not real life, yet I believe most of us here would enjoy a "game" that is as realsitic as possible.
and I don't disagree with that.

I said that there should be a "soft" cap followed by the "hard" cap... meaning the hard cap should be RARE to hit, and should only happen if a coach really pushes that category.

once the soft cap is hit, improvement should reduce dramatically, making the harder cap difficult to reach.

just to clarify this was intended for bradshaw's suggestion of potential determining the speed at which the ratings increase.

No. Work ethic has to do with offseason improvement and rate of change... and theoretically has to do with in-game performance as well... but nobody believes that to be entirely true. Potential would have to do with total improvement, BUT would be parsed in terms of rate of change. Basically meaning WE and potential would both be factors in a player's improvement (kind like a multiplication sign).

This is REALLY unfair to those who have recruited on this basis. This change should be implemented ONLY for players actually recruited from this point forward -- OR there should be at least a full season in every league pass before the change is made.

Basically yes, it was... and now work ethic is virtually meaningless.

So basically they changed it back to the old system, except we still have random caps on players skill?

they haven't done anything yet... sounds like they didn't really know exactly what everybody wanted and they're going to hold a developer chat to get a sense of what needs to be done.
