Who needs pitching? My boys are looking for guidance. To that end I'm bringing in Coach Bill Joyce. Scrappy Bill leads by example, so we'll enjoy his 1.04 OPS as well as his skipper skills (179-122 as manager).

I'm going to fall back to the old wisdom and take the best Ed in the draft: 1B Ed Morgan

Anyone else astounded that we're drafting from a pool of the best pitchers since 1950, and two 2009 guys were selected?

Wow vk, you might end up selecting a Giant.

Not being allowed to pick Hall of Famers is a pretty big factor there. I kept wondering why people were passing on Bob Gibson!

Excellent point. Also no Yanks or White Sox. Still, I don't think what Lincecum and Carpenter did in '09 has been fully appreciated from a historical perspective.

well hopefully lincecum pitches well for me!

Carp has a solid '05 season too, with more IP

I'm amazed at some of the guys out there who aren't HOFers...Cuellar, McNally, Dobson (all former O's coincidentally). Conspiracy?

The joy of picking next to last is that I can view everyone's picks and then take the player that's most likely to screw everyone

gene, can you please make a clarification to the rules, just to be sure as we're filling out our rosters. Are we, or are we not, allowed to select a player who fills more than one rule?

I have no idea if players exist to fill these rules, but for instance, can we double up with a:

  • switch-hitting player-manager
  • Ed born in Vermont
  • etc
Thanks for the clarification!

Oh, I don't think I'll regret having Derek on my roster, but wondering if there was somebody else who will be claimed by one of the remaining teams that will really mess up my roster...
