Yeah, back then, Saturdays were voluntary practices only. We practiced or played every day of the week and, if enough of us wanted to come out, the coach would call a voluntary practice on Saturday.

They are but they have every right to have one. The NFL rules. I believe the NBA is also a little annoyed because they're holding the draft against playoff games. My guess is the draft got better ratings than whatever NBA game was played last night and whatever slug game they schedule against the WS will draw better ratings. I always thought there was a gentleman's agreement in place but maybe that's out the window with the new sheriff.

I don't watch hockey on TV.

Do you watch hockey in person?
4/23/2010 11:11 AM
We have minor league team. So, yes, I go to some games.
4/23/2010 11:17 AM
What do you use as a hangover cure?
4/23/2010 11:28 AM
More alcohol.

Have you been to an NHL game? Would you agree hockey is the best sport to watch in person, and the worst to watch on TV?
4/23/2010 11:31 AM
Why don't you like to watch hockey on TV, isn't it more enjoyable than watching MLB on TV?
4/23/2010 11:38 AM
No. No, I would not. But it is the worst to watch on TV. So much goes on away from the puck, it's just not a TV sport. Baseball doesn't translate well on some plays either. On a gapper to the wall, I want to know if the runner is going to try to score before the ball gets back to the infield. There's just no way to show it in the way I want to see the play happen.

See above.

you still lifting regularly?

Are you worried about Vazquez in the Yankees starting rotation or will the success of the other 4 render him useless other than being an innings eater?
4/23/2010 11:47 AM
I've got a bone spur between C5-C6 in my neck. It's pinching a nerve and leaving my right thumb/lower arm numb. They've been treating it, with 'roids, for about a month. I haven't lifted in about 6 weeks. Before that, yes, 5-6 times a week.
4/23/2010 11:48 AM
I am not. His job is to give the bullpen a day off. As long as he takes the ball 33+ times and goes 7 most of those, he's doing his job.

i started lifting heavy again a couple weeks ago. no more maintaining for me. how old is it where you can't grow bigger muscles no more? i know there are some pro bodybuilders in their early forties that still look stellar
4/23/2010 12:38 PM
I was in my late 30s when I realized all the hard work in the world wasn't going to produce bigger muscles. It's not hard to maintain what you've built, or to bring it back if you've let it slide, but I stopped making noticeable gains then. As I'm sure you know, it's testosterone-based. Your body just stops producing as much as it once did at some point. The good thing is you don't have to lose strength. I was lifting as much weight at 44 as I was at 24. The muscles just looked different.
