anton - if the 50 studs get divided up, the system will just not be fun, but it won't be unfair, so far, we have seen nothing like that, I have 8 elites and as much oor more actual experience at recruiting with the new system in hihg level d1, CB you are in a conf with me, a B+ prestige school in my market got 5 studs (or 6) I don't even recall, I had an A+, sort of watched it happen, was quite happy to get one, then made a late run at another, ended up with 2 studs myself, most of our conference did pretty well (we had lots of money & probably 25% to half the stud recruits in the entire country were within 350 miles of me) - while that goes on in the best ways, I have A+ stanford who I had one stud within 350 miles, and my A wisconsin team, I may as well just throw the 50-100k I have up in the winds and say hootie hoo - that is the issue here, the recruiting change is not playing out fairly - markets are not fair at all, when many recruits were ok or usable, this was not an issue, now it is, HD is sort of like pushing on a balloon, get one side looking like you want, and the other side bulges out, you know what I mean????

I read something about Madden football that relates to this topic. In Madden 2006 they introduced QB vision which forced you to move a cone in the direction you wanted to throw before you threw it to make accuracy on throws more realistic and the size of a QBs cone was related to how good your QB was, so Peyton Manning had a huge cone and crappy QBs had tiny cones. in Madden 2010 they removed QB vision and went back to the old way because while many loved the QB vision many also hated it, and as an EA Sports programmer put it anything that is that polarizing is a failure and that's the situation we're in with the recruits. It's a polarizing issue where some like myself are in favor of it and others hate it so therefore it's probably a failure.
kmason - that is a great way of putting it, polarizing.  That description works to describe many things in real life, I recall reading once where successful public policy helps / excites about 25% of the popluation, but most importantly, leaves about 70% of the population indifferent or unaffected, and only upsets or harms 5%.

Why not?

Walk-ons mean no carryover though. And anyone rolling sixes is going to be planning on signing cheap role players behind their two studs to fill out the class.

For. Mostly for the mass amounts of low potential and extreme unpredictability of potential without FSS. If more low potential is simply changed to average, I will be completely satisfied with recruit generation.

FOR, in a big way.  Where is seble?

I, myself, dont completely mind the starting attributes of the recruits.  I think 2 things would help out:

1.  Throw more recruits to choose from.  If there are going to be varying types of players, at least give us more to choose from.
2.  If you are going to start their attributes lower, at least let them develop with better potentials.

We should be able to have some compromise somewhere, right?

You could always turn QB vision off though...and if I recall in future versions, you it was an option but you had to turn it on...I have Madden 08 and I believe you have to turn it on yourself if you like.  Great comparison though...I turned QB vision off after pass #1.

moy, I think the Rupp recruiting chart for elite (as defined by current prestige) schools is the most interesting thing I have seen in this whole discussion. It is only one season in one world, and I haven't had a real chance to wrap my head around all of the downstream ramifications. I would really like to fast-forward four seasons in Rupp to see what all of this means in terms of the NT.

i can't even take this thread seriously when people say "a 570 guard" or talk about players based on their ranking.

overall rating does not matter at all and neither does their ranking, right? who cares if a guy has 90 dur or a 15 dur? a 75 WE or a 50 WE? there goes 100 points difference right there, turns a 570 chump into a 670 stud!

i got ranked #5 this year in knight d3 recruiting! i signed a 550 juco PF! it was awesome!

it was also my WORST class i've ever signed...

But think about all the wonderful threads you'd miss on this subject if you just jumped ahead like that.

Seriously, think about them. All of them.

For.

I'm a little shocked that anyone can justify the super low D1 cores.  We really shouldn't see any D1 PF/C with sub-20 reb or guards with sub-20 pass/bh.

I was all for variation/decreasing the amount of 100s.  But I think the top tier/second tier gap is too large and, overall, the ratings are just odd.

I like it. I was tempted to leave a few weeks, maybe months ago. With the new recruits and team building I'll likely stay a little longer. I enjoy the challenge the new recruits bring.
