GOP psychos obsessed with Planned Parenthood Topic

Isn't tying two unrelated items together the gripe in this thread?   Why tie funding of abortion clinics to tax-exempt status of churches?
4/17/2011 4:43 PM
How are they unrelated? The drive to defund PP is coming predominantly from the religious right. If churches want a say in how federal money is spent, they can pay taxes like everyone else.

I'm pretty sure the individuals who attend said churches pay taxes just like you do.   Unrelated.
4/17/2011 5:13 PM
It's as unrelated as abortions and Planned Parenthood.
4/17/2011 5:38 PM
Except Planned Parenthood provides abortions.     Church members just go to church.   They're not forced to tithe.

Or, maybe, you have someone like me who doesn't give a flying **** about churches or abortions.   I just don't want to pay for either of them(unless, of course, I get to pick and choose).
4/17/2011 5:54 PM
And churches provide rhetoric to defund Planned Parenthood. And abortion doctors kill future taxpayers. It's all a big circle.

Consider it shared sacrifice. If they don't want federal funds to go to PP, they can give something up to also help chip away the deficit. Otherwise, there's no reason to pay any attention to them on the subject. Holding your breath until you get your way is not a negotiating tactic used by reasonable adults.

It's not a big circle.   One collects federal money to fund abortion.   One has a tax-free status and does no billing.  People freely give money to it.   Like a charity.   PP can fund themselves via charity.

I will agree to no federal funding to organizations like PP and NPR if it's accompanied by the removal of tax-exempt status from all religions.
I cannot imagine that anyone ties these 2 issues together.

Religious freedom is a cornerstone of what America is all about.

I cannot imagine why you would look at PP and think they are the same as a religion!
I gave you a chance to have an honest discussion about an issue, and you naturally decided to spew your usual bullshit instead.

**** off, liar.
1 Your point was so hyperbolic that responding to it was almost impossible. The polits Mike raised afterwards shows that you are comparing apples and oranges.

2 You didnt really want to have an honest conversation, you tossed out a "Gotcha" line.

3 Can you in any way tie religious freedom and all it means to a country that is as spirtual as America and funding a small private orginization? We are not just another nation, we are by far the most religious western nation. Is taxing churchs something that is even on anyones radar. Anyone that isnt completly removed from reality I mean!

Neither one collects federal money to fund abortions. Go take an accounting class.

If the anti-abortion crowd don't want federal funds to go to PP, they should give something up to also help chip away the deficit.

I'm open to suggestions as to what that trade-off might be, if you don't think stripping an anachronism from the tax code is a good idea. But if they aren't going to offer one, then they aren't really interested in solutions, and there's no reason to listen to them about PP's funding.
4/17/2011 8:36 PM
I'm not anti-abortion at all.   I just don't want to fund abortions that aren't of my choosing.

Isn't your "this for that" attitude what the OP is complaining about?
4/17/2011 8:45 PM
Well, you don't fund them, because your tax dollars don't go to any abortions performed by PP. It doesn't get any truer no matter how many times you say it.

And no, it wasn't.
4/18/2011 1:18 AM
If my tax dollars are given to PP, I fund abortions.  Go take an accounting class.

And, yeah, it kind of was.

This is the point in the thread where Mike virtually plugs his fingers in his ears and shouts LALALALALALALA
4/18/2011 8:31 AM
Would "**** off, liar" be more appropriate?

Wonder where I picked that up?
