I don't know that I'd use "epidemic" to describe the problem.

So what would you call it?

This is a huge rate. We need parents to raise their children.

We just stopped getting along?? I looked at him one day and decided I couldnt stay married to him??

TOO BAD! Raise your damn kids!
If I'm running for public office, I would probably try to avoid using disease metaphors to describe social problems in a group of highly identifiable voters who have exhibited hostility towards my party. That's just my conservative risk aversion kicking in, though. I'm sure the collective genius that is the Tea Party know better even if they don't seem to realize it isn't 1948 any more than the GOP will need non-white voters in order to be more than a rump group in plualistic modern-day America.

BTW, I'd be soooooooo for forced sterilization.   The first time you ask for a handout because you can't feed your child, you get a free visit to the doctor to help you with birth control.   And, if you're willing to name the father, he can get some help too once the DNA test is complete.  That puts an end to a lot of problems.
By this logic, we should ban anyone from running a business the first time they ask for a tax break. Or lobotomize anyone who asks for a Pell grant.
Poor logic on your part.   Tax breaks and Pell grants can be denied.   You can't kill children that have already been born.   Well, unless your name is Casey Anthony.

Very well done! The Anthony line is awesome.

How did this become racial for you?

I thnk the GOP needs to court minority religious voters. Core Christian beliefs could be the thing that splits the evil hold the Dems have on minoritites in America.

When the conversation started about Bachmann's dumbassery in singing a pledge that contained a reference to African-American family dynamics before slavery ended and under the Obama Administration. Remember?

It's funny because a logical person would have made that connection as that's what kickstarted the discussion about that issue in this thread. Conservations with you are never dull. They are random, disjointed, unfiltered journeys.

I very much disagree. You mentioned the disease metaphor. That did not have anything to do with Bachmann. Only I used the term epidemic.

So lets drop the issue of who mentioned race when. Clearly it was a simple misunderstanding between us.

So do you think Republicans can get traction selling Anti-Gay marriage to Blacks and Hispanics?

I'd rather that the GOP try to put together a coherent strategy on education reform that includes choice and school vouchers, two issues that would resonate with those voting blocs.

I don't know whether the GOP are going to move people to our side of the ledger by pandering to bigotries. You need to give people a reason to vote for you rather than demonize your opponents and the anti-gay marriage movement seems more likely to hurt the Republicans rather than help.

That's why the likes of Rush, Ann Coulter, Olbermann and others make ****** campaign strategists and would never, ever test themselves in a run for public office. They make too much money as carnival barkers. It's why you should ignore them, swamp.

1 Bigots? about 2/3s of Americans oppose gay marriage. Can a large majority be bigots?

2 I would love a debate on Education. I feel it is the one issue the left cannot in any way win.

3 I think all pundits would make bad campaigners. You have to be 100% open to be a pundit, and you cannot be 100% open and run for office.

1. Parties need to run for something not against something.

2. Coherent education reform is a winning issue for the GOP

3. Pundits are entertainers. They are about as qualified for office as Matt Damon.

The Republicans are running for something.

1 Lower taxes
2 Less government
3 traditional marriage
4 Pro-life
5 Strong Defense

I know you might have a problem with 3 and 4. They are core Republican values. Pro-life helps our cause. Lots of Americans will vote that one issue alone. Almost no one will vote pro-choice as a single issue. Traditional marriage is supported by about 2/3s of Americans. Gay Marriage has never won a vote of the people ever anywhere in America. Why would abandoning that issue help us?
