I love when JTard starts making predictions.  He's always been so spot-on.

And randl...err, muddy strikes again with another 3 post spree.

As I recall, I predicted a bad finish for the Bears - and voila, Cutler goes down.  I may target the Pats and Brady next, haven't decided yet.

yeah predicting the bears to miss the playoffs was such an expert way to foreshadow the cutler injury, even though they'll make the playoffs anyway

I'll be a Bears fan the next two weeks - I just don't see a strong finish happening.

well now that you said that, the bears are a virtual lock to make the playoffs.

Next thing you know, he'll be throwing out stupid **** like, "I'll bet the average completion percentage in the NFL is around 45-50 percent."

It comes with being a Broncos fan.

I loved Plummer's backhanded jab at Cutler and Orton a few days ago though.  He basically said Tebow's a winner and he wants him to succeed, because Bronco fans have been desperate for a winner ever since he was run out of town.

Tebow solved the Jets defense.  And with Hanie in there, I don't see why the Broncos D can't hold them to 7-10 points.
Tebow didnt solve crap.  He had ONE drive.  granted, it was to win the game.  but the fact that it WAS to win the game was because of the DEFENSE which not only held an inept Jets Offense led by a crappy QB to 13 points, but scored the only TD the Broncos had to that point, even though Tebow was consistently given field position at or over midfield ALL GAME.  Tebow SUCKED for 56 minutes of this game, and somehow, with bad defensive positioning, beat a team in the Jets who will miss the postseason.  The Bears will NOT miss postseason.  They will finish 10-6 or 11-5.  They play Green Bay, and St. Assissi for the Blind in their remaining schedule.

Seattle could score on Chicago.....they won't, but in theory they could

Denver and KC couldn't even in theory

the Bears are still sitting in a very comfortable spot for a playoff spot
Tell it to the Jets, who, as I already pointed out, are a better team in terms of total defense and very comparable in points allowed/game.  I'm loving the insinuation that the Bears are this huge, impenatrable D.
The Jets are NOT a comparable defense or team to the Bears.  The Jets allow yards and points when the game is still in doubt.....  Like to Tim FN Tebow and the HAPLESS Broncos.  Like to Tom Brady and New England after taking the lead with 1 minute to go in the first half of a MUST WIN GAME.

The Bears play a bend but dont break defense after amassing a lead by playing fierce defense, and allowing teams to get meaningless yards and points late in the game.....  like to San Diego, Minnesota, Philadelphia, Detroit, etc.....  The Jets are NOWHERE NEAR a playoff team right now.  Their defense is below average, and their offense is in line with Seattle and Tarvaris Jackson.  Other than that...  all is peachy in NYC.  And this comes from a JETS FAN.

The Bears have a WAY better defense than the Jets.  By a lot.  By a mile.

So are stats important or not? Some people on here can't seem to make up their minds.

It doesn't matter that Tebow wins because he has crappy stats...but it doesn't matter that the Bears are statistically even with the Jets, because they win.

Which is it?

You're not very good at logic

E's point was that the Bears' defensive stats suffer because they normally have big leads and go into prevent, whereas the Jets are always battling to stay in the game so they don't take the hit to their stats.

There's a huge difference between noting that stats are directly impacted by winning vs throwing stats out the window simply because the team won at the end of the day.

Stats ARE important.  Knowing HOW THEY GET THERE is also important.  I didnt give one example....  I gave 2 for the Jets, and FOUR from Chicago.

Let me ask....  Do you REALLY think that Green Bay has the worst pass defense in the NFL??????  Gee....  if the stats say they allow the most yards they MUST be the worst, right?????    But if we look more closely at HOW THE STATS ARE COMPILED and WHEN....  what might we find out about the Green Bay Packers????   OH YEAH!!!!  THEY ARE ALWAYS WINNING, so teams THROW the ball in the 2nd half against them A LOT.  And Green Bay doesnt play tight coverage, which could lead to quick scores and big gains.  And because they are up by more than 10+ points a lot in the 2nd half.....   Games like the VIKINGS scoring 10 late points, SAN DIEGO scoring 14 late 4th quarter points, THE SAINTS getting 270 2nd half passing yards and were down 15, 78 meaningless yards to the BRONCOS in a final drive while up 49-16, and others.....

Yeah.  Stats are important.  But COMBINING common sense, and statistical information leads to better conclusions.  I guess I just assume most people can apply the common sense part, since it is common.  Maybe not.

Very close.  My point was that the Bears are allowing similar yardage to the Jets, but WHEN the yards are allowed and under WHAT conditions separate them.   The Bears dont care about allowing yards to the Vikings while up 39-7, or to San Diego while up 31-17 with 3 minutes left, etc.....   The Jets dont have their stats lacking hits because the games are close......   That wasnt my insinuation.  What I was saying was that while the Bears allow a good percentage of the yards and points that they allow once the outcome has been decided....  thats NOT true of the Jets.  They allow the points and yards that DECIDE the game, not allow it once the game was decided.  Gaining an 8-6 lead with a minute left in the first half against the Patriots in a MUST WIN game is no time to allow an 80 yard TD Drive.  Yet it happened.  Up 13-10 against a team who scored THREE POINTS on offense through 55 minutes and having them pinned to their 5 yard line was NO TIME YET AGAIN to allow a 95 yard TD Drive.  Against a QB who cant complete a pass.  YET THEY DID.  That was my point.  I would take the Bears defense in a HEARTBEAT over the Jets.
