A plurality of Republican voters, 47 percent, said they believed Mr. Obama, who was born in Hawaii, was born in another country; 22 percent said they did not know where he was born, and 32 percent said they believed he was born in the United States.

If even if republican voters did believe it, it doesn't hold sway over the multitude of other reasons they would vote against him.  It's a non-issue to me (an obvious conservative if you guys haven't figured that out).

If it was found that he wasn't born here then sure I guess it would be an issue, but I believe it's been answered satisfactorily to people in much greater position to know than me.

Oh, I don't think they would vote Obama even if this weren't an "issue". But it does speak to the gullibility and general paranoia level among the GOP right now that so many would even be unsure about where Obama was born.

If someone gets accused of something crazy most people will not believe it.

If the person accused then starts acting secretive and there is some evidence to support the claim more and more people will believe it.

The bottom line though is it doesnt matter. This is a side issue. How many Democrats believe that Bush started the Gulf War for oil? Caused 9/11?

You misspelled 'WorldNetDaily'...

That's only the most recent poll showing similar numbers though. PPP released one earlier this week from just Iowa, in which the numbers were 48% birther, 26% unsure, 26% sane. They also did one in February polling national GOP primary voters - the numbers were 51/21/28.

That's remarkably consistent polling, from two different polling companies. Maybe "too consistent" I suppose if you suspect the numbers have been rigged, but I haven't seen anyone dissect them and find flaws in the methodologies.

All this also coincides with Trump's rise in the polls as a potential candidate - that's correlation not causation of course, but it does reinforce the idea that the average GOP voter is completely off their nut about this.

You know that people are getting savy. These polls are about non-issues, so when people are asked they dont want to say anything to support Obama.

This isnt an actual insight into the Pub mind. This is a mark against Obama.

Just like Bush caused 9/11. A much crazier theory which was very popular!

So you are saying there was never about 25% of the population in general that tied 9/11 to Bush. And that the idea that 9/11 is faked is a crazier possible theory than Obama faked his birth?

And it isnt systematically lying. It is just giving the other team flak.

But that is NOT what you said dumb-***. And yes Bush lied about WMD's and people died in his phony war. Now that is what the statement meant and even YOU know that it is true. No amount of your rewriting of history will change the fact of the statement.

1 The fact that I didnt technically say it is irelevant. Anyone without straw for brains would know what I was saying.

2 I do not in any way believe Bush lied about WMDs. The anecdotal evidence was overwelming. The world believed he had WMDs. He used WMDs against his own people.

3 Phony War? What does that even mean? Is that on www.hatebush.com/attackphrases?

4 It is amazing that you can have so much hate about Bush that you make up a story about a well documented war. Do you think Bush had the WTC painted with thermite also?

5 And so if some Republicans think that he is lying about something that wasnt on the news all day for years and he is keeping a secret I would assume you would understand?

Whether Bush believed what he was saying when he told, to pick one example, the yellowcake lie doesn't change the fact that it was a lie, any more than when Trump says that Obama hasn't produced a birth certificate, whether he believes what he's saying or not is irrelevant to the fact that it is a lie.

I know you have a source that says that if you believe something is true and its turns out to be false it is a lie.

I reject that. Here is what I conisder the correct definition of lying....

1. To present false information with the intention of deceiving.

I think most of us agree that if you believe something to be true, and it is later found to be incorrect that you have not lied, you were wrong.
I think most of us agree that lying is a concious act.

So ironically you would think that I am calling you a liar.
