I'm not sure there's any talent...
With three of my five starters experiencing horrible real-life seasons, and with drops in real-life numbers from Caminiti and Brady Anderson, I did not expect to approach last season's total of 88 wins, but this has been almost historically bad. With Griffey hitting .250 and both catchers under .200, this could be a long season.

Game 29: Montreal gets three more home runs, including Tony Phillips' first of the season, but Willie Blair adds to his already disastrous ERA with seven runs allowed, and the Oakland Oaks win 13-4. Blair is 0-6 with a 7.31 ERA.
Game 30: Scott Erickson throws a complete-game eight-hitter and the Spectres score eight runs in the sixth as they split with Oakland, winning at the Coliseum, 9-1.
Game 31: Chuck Finley allows five runs in the first inning and the bullpen is savaged, wasting a 15-hit performance by the bats, as Cleveland scores a 20-9 win at Olympic Stadium.
Game 32: After an 0-4 record during the first interleague set, Montreal splits this group after beating Cleveland 5-2. Jay Buhner hits his eighth home run and the bullpen throws three scoreless innings.
The club now heads to St. Louis to face the 19-13 Blue Storm.
1/1/2008 5:44 PM
Game 33: St. Louis' Jose Rijo strikes out 10 batters as the Blue Storm batter Bob Wickman on the way to a 10-5 win in the opener. Wickman drops to 2-4.
Game 34: Another day, another savage beating. Scott Erickson, Willie Blair, and Orlando Reid take turns getting blasted as the Blue Storm roll, 12-4.
Game 35: Chuck Finley throws a complete game and Greg Gagne hits a three-run home run late as the Spectres win a series, taking the finale 5-1.
More interleague play on tap as we face Detroit and Kansas City next.

not to be confused with "win a game in a series" ..... :)

Game 36: Ken Griffey Jr. hits a solo home run, his ninth of the season, but that's all Montreal can muster against Andy Benes. Kirk McCaskill closes for his 12th save and the Miracles beat Montreal 3-1.
Game 37: Montreal has always had problems with knuckleball pitchers, and today is no different; a decent start by Bob Wickman is wasted as the Spectres are mesmerized by Tom Candiotti's knuckler. Detroit wins 2-1.
Game 38: Bill Swift improves to 5-2 with seven shutout innings as Greg Gagne leaves six men on base and the KC Blue Devils take a 6-1 win over Montreal.
Game 39: Ken Griffey Jr. hits his 10th home run and Chuck Finley survives long enough for his third win as the Spectres take the final game from Kansas City, 10-3. Junior is hitting only .252 this season but is on pace for 40 homers.

Montreal hosts another contender for the #1 overall pick in the 1994 draft, Atlanta (13-26) next.
Game 40: It is hardly a dominant performance, but the Spectres beat Atlanta 3-1 in the opener. Ken Griffey Jr. drives in all three Montreal runs without a hit (bases-loaded walk, sacrifice fly, RBI groundout). Alex Fernandez goes seven innings for his third win.
Game 41: Not only does Bob Wickman throw six scoreless innings in a starting role, but Willie Blair throws two scoreless frames in relief and gets his first win of the season when Greg Gagne's bottom-of-the-ninth double brings home Brady Anderson for a 2-1 Spectre victory.
Game 42: Scott Erickson drops to 1-5, outpitched by young comer Kevin Brown, as the Tomahawks take the finale 4-2.
1/4/2008 6:54 PM
Montreal heads to the West Coast to face San Francisco
Game 43: Greg Gagne has four hits while Jay Buhner and Eddie Murray hit home runs to back Chuck Finley in a 6-2 win over the 69ers. Rick Aguilera throws a scoreless ninth for his seventh save.
Game 44: Randy Velarde has four hits and Eddie Murray drives home four runs as the Spectres demolish Trevor Wilson and the 69ers, 10-5. Murray leads the team with 39 RBI; Velarde is now hitting .409 in limited duty.
Game 45: Facing another -handed starter, Randy Velarde has three more hits, but the Spectres cannot bunch their baserunners; Frisco's Angel Miranda throws six effective innings and the Niners salvage the finale, 3-1, beating Scott Erickson.
Montreal returns home to face the Los Angeles Looters, who are itching to get to .500 at 22-23.
1/5/2008 10:51 PM
Game 46: Randy Johnson is outpitched by.. Bob Wickman? Yes, it's true! Johnson strikes out 10 but allows 12 hits and the Spectres take the opener 7-2. Jay Buhner hits his 12th home run and Ken Griffey Jr. becomes the third Spectre to reach 30 RBI.
Game 47: Willie Blair can't even get out of the first inning, surrendering four runs, and the Looters are on their way to a 17-9 win. Ken Griffey Jr. hits two home runs for the Spectres.
Game 48: Ken Griffey Jr. hits another home run, a three-run shot, but it's not enough as LA takes the series with a 5-4 win.
Interleague sets against Washington and New York await.
1/6/2008 6:44 PM
Game 49: Dwight Gooden is on top of his game for Washington; Alex Fernandez falls a bit short. Add in a seven-run inning by Dave Burba and the Spectres are blown out, 12-0.
Game 50: Montreal gets rare home runs from Ken Caminiti (his third) and Brady Anderson (his second) along with a key pinch hit single from Randy Velarde as the defeat Washington 3-2. Scott Erickson pitches well and earns his second win of the season.
Game 51: Bob Wickman puts the Spectres in a 5-1 hole after the first inning, and Montreal can never catch up, dropping a game to the Diamonds 9-7 despite three home runs.
Game 52: Chris Bosio throws eight shutout innings, allowing only two hits, and the Spectre bullpen takes a thrashing, allowing seven runs in both the eighth and ninth innings as the Diamonds destroy Montreal 18-0.
The club returns to NL play with a visit from the Chicago Bootleggers (26-26).
1/8/2008 6:05 AM
Game 53: A rare competent performance by Chuck Finley is wasted as Bob Tewksbury shuts down the Spectre lineup. Chicago takes the opener 3-1, with Montreal's only run coming on an Eddie Murray home run.
Game 54: Montreal's latest skid ends as Greg Gagne's bases-loaded triple gives the Spectres an early lead; Rick Aguilera throws a scoreless ninth for his ninth save as the Bootleggers fall 5-3.
Game 55: Montreal cannot answer Paul O'Neill's ninth-inning home run and drops the finale to Chicago, 4-3.
The second round of divisional play is next as the Spectres head to Pittsburgh to face the B-Collars.
1/9/2008 12:57 PM
Game 56: Willie Blair looks good until the fourth, where he does not retire a batter. Pittsburgh scores four times and holds on for a 5-2 win. Blair falls to 1-9.
Game 57: Tony Phillips reaches base four times and Jay Buhner drives home three runs as the Spectres beat the B-Collars 6-4 behind Chuck Finley, evening the series at a game apiece.
Game 58: Alex Fernandez throws a complete game, walking nobody, but the Spectres cannot generate any offense against Pittsburgh's Cal Eldred and they drop the series finale, 3-2.
We return home to host the New York Cosmos.
1/10/2008 1:13 PM
Game 59: Scott Erickson has a typical Scott Erickson performance (1.2 IP, 6 H, 5 ER) and the Cosmos are off to a 10-8 win over the Spectres, who fall to 20-39.
Game 60: Eddie Murray's home run gives Montreal a lead in the sixth, but the bullpen can't hold it; New York rampages for seven runs over the final three innings and wins 9-4.
Game 61: Chuck Finley fares even worse than Scott Erickson had in the opener, allowing eight runs in 1.2 innings, and the Cosmos finish a sweep with a 13-5 blowout. Eddie Murray reaches 50 RBI for Montreal.
We conclude this round of divisional play with a trip to Philadelphia.
1/11/2008 12:51 PM
Game 62: Alex Fernandez allows two early home runs, but the offense rallies behind four hits (three doubles) and four RBI from Brady Anderson, and the bullpen looks respectable for a change, as the Spectres come back to take a 10-6 win in the opener.
Game 63: Scott Erickson pitches reasonably well (considering that he allows 12 hits) but Philly's Ben McDonald is brilliant, throwing seven shutout innings for his eighth win as the Keystones even the series with a 3-1 decision.
Game 64: Ken Griffey Jr. hits a three-run home run and Dave Burba throws three scoreless innings in relief to pick up a win as the Spectres take the rubber game, 6-2. Griffey Jr. now has 47 RBI.
The club has a quick interleague set with Baltimore before facing Houston.
1/12/2008 1:26 PM
Game 65: Randy Velarde hits a pinch-hit home run, his first of the season, but the Aureoles have too much offense on this day, outhitting Montreal 12-7 in a 6-3 win.
Game 66: Brady Anderson hits a three-run homer in the bottom of the eighth to give Montreal a lead; Rick Aguilera allows a run in the ninth but still ends up with his 12th save. Montreal beats Baltimore 5-4 to split the series.
The Spectres are headed to Houston to face the Central-leading Lone Stars (43-23).
1/13/2008 9:08 PM
Game 67: Montreal has six extra-base hits in the seventh inning, capped by Ron Karkovice's home run, and the Spectres rally to beat Houston 9-6.
Game 68: Tony Fossas and Bob Wickman conspire to allow five runs in the bottom of the eighth, allowing Houston to erase a deficit and steal a 10-6 win. Rick Aguilera was apparently in the bathroom as the Lone Stars rallied.
Game 69: Houston unloads for 21 hits and Willie Blair falls to 1-10 as the Lone Stars destroy the Spectres 16-5 in the series finale.
Montreal hosts Cincinnati next.
