You want to make a small change? I've got a couple dozen of them listed in a thread here that would make the vast majority of people quite happy, and more hopeful about HD as well.

Dalter, I know where your intentions are at, but its comments like these that give people the impression
I understand what you're saying.

If you hang out in the forums a good amount and have played the game for awhile, it's pretty clear what the forum consensus is on alot of issues. I don't think my insights there are unique, no doubt there are a decent # of coaches with their "finger on the pulse of HD".

I also talk to a ton of coaches over sitemail, etc. I've also spent the last week soliciting sitemails from people re: their likes and dislikes. So I do think I have a pretty good idea of how the HD community feels on certain issues (or at least the more active segment that posts/sitemails).

That said, it's not my intent to come off as a know-it-all, although I realize that sometimes I do.

I don see what EE logic has to do with the cap on scholarship money. I agree that EE is broken. But, I also think that the cap on scholarship money is broken. I think the two are independent of each other.

Potentially related but yes I agree.

are you guys really that oblivious? or you just dont want it changed because you take full advantage.

The $$/scholarship ration argument it complete bullsh*t.

It SHOULD NOT BE EQUAL.

if you have 2 openings vs 6, the 6 will always win. Always. THATS not equal.

This is the rich getting richer. If you have an A prestige and 5+ openings you WILL get a great recruiting class. Not just great, but stellar....

Why is that?? Because no one will battle you (if you are smart and dont get too greedy).

If you have an A prestige you will more than likely sign at least two guys for under $5k. Probably three. That leaves you TONS of money for your other four scholarships.

Now you have 4 openings and $100k. You probably get a couple other guys for $10k. that leaves you $90k for two 'ships.

Not very fair, when the little guy has about $45k for his two 'ships.

Would you rather have 10 players returning from last season or only 6 players returning? That is not equal either.

Where's moy and his battle cry? if more lower level schools would step up and fight, then it *could* even out on its own. but thats never going to happen...

last recruiting period in knight i fended off Illinios (A+) from my back yard in Utah. I had to spend over $90k to get him though.

Now, Illinois lost out on a battle for a 5star PG. But they still got four other studs. WHY? because no one battles those schools. WHY? CUZ THEY HAVE TOO MUCH MONEY TO START WITH.

I still like Polos idea from earlier!!!

10, but that person with 6 openings is going to kill it in recruiting. i'll probably have to take a stab at a couple recruits and hope no one else does.

So successful schools should be penalized? They already get penalized by loosing valuable experience to EE, and some get doubly penalized by not having the same recruiting dollars per scholarship if that puts them above 6 ships to fill.

I hear the arguement on how it can be abused, and I'll agree loopholes should be closed, but to argue that it shouldn't be changed because it just helps good schools seems shortsighted and ignores the main reason many schools HAVE to have more than 5 ships to fill.

All this said I think your idea from earlier has a lot of merit to it.

Polo don't forget that geography plays a big role that is almost impossible to overcome.
2/18/2010 3:19 PM
i know, and to all your responses where you said "likely, but not always true", geography is the main factor
