wtf are you talking about robo?
4/26/2011 1:17 AM
do you mean Kevin Porter?
4/26/2011 1:18 AM
That's the golden season I use when I can get it.
4/26/2011 1:18 AM
i think he's talking about kevin porter... who is a dud... but terry porter is one of the best pg's in the sim with incredible efg%, good ast% and very low t.o.'s and fouls... has to be kevin porter.

Could be- had 7 glasses of wine yesterday and it isn't consistent with concentration.

I had an operation last week-still hurting from it. In fact, I actually missed the Vigil Mass Saturday for the second time in 20 some odd years, but I had worked 10 hours in 100 degree weather with 10 surgical staples in me (never mind where) and it was kind of tough. Apparently getting old sucks- somebosy should have told me.

ccsweet - Mookie Blaylock, George Gervin, Kevin Garnett

Looking closely at this team, I like them better than I initially thought I would.  Unless my eyes are mistaken, Gervin seems to have had his defense rating upgraded (odd, because he was a notorious matador) without making him prohibitively expensive.  He’s actually looking more usable than he has been in recent memory.  He does nothing but score (pretty efficiently) from midrange.  Mookie does nothing but chuck from 3-pt. land (and occasionally – but not very often – pass the ball).  Garnett does a lot of everything, and charges a mint for his services.  This team needs rebounding help and another playmaker, but the starting three might mesh pretty nicely.

logain -  Oscar Robertson, Gerald Wallace, Bob McAdoo

I like all three of these players and for some reason I’m just not loving the chemistry between them.  It’s very tough to get Oscar to meet expectations  statistically.  I fear McAdoo will eat into Big O’s FGAs and FTAs.  Wallace is a great utility infielder, a guy who won’t take over games but does all kinds of little things to help his team.  Need to add an interior defender and a sharpshooter and then roll the dice.  So far this feels like a squad that will win games they’re supposed to lose and lose games they’re supposed to win.

sweg
- Steve Nash, Mike Miller, Hakeem Olajuwon

I’m still sensing playoffs but early exit for this crew.  So far this team gives you lots of everything, including fouls and turnovers.  They need a couple of bland teammates whose two primary jobs are to grab the ball and to not lose the ball.

steelers821
- Kevin Johnson, Adrian Dantley, Carlos Boozer

I really like KJ in this sim, although with most of his seasons you need to get him some perimeter shooting help.  Dantley is the opposite of that.  I think there’s a way to get these two to co-exist in the backcourt, but it really depends on finding the right kind of guy to hold down the SF spot.  I have absolutely loved using a couple of Boozer’s seasons, but he’s more of a staple in higher-cap leagues for me.  This squad has potential, but I fear it will hard to pay for the fixes to the current gaps.

rizitos - Nate Archibald, John Havlicek, Elvin Hayes

The addition of Big E continues the pattern.  Three expensive, high-minutes guys whose advanced stats will result in lower numbers than their real-life stats suggest.  Between them they will take most of the team’s shots.  A couple of high-efficiency, low-usage guys who can help with rebounding are needed – generally not the best value for the dollar.  Still, I have to love the insistence on using golden oldies.  I wish the sim would give them some kind of break.

Tyson has lost some of his D, but gotta love most everything else.  I dunno.  Tough draft now that so many guys have no defense.  Limits the pool even more for the "in the middle" drafters.

16. jakotay - Deron Williams, Marques Johnson, Troy Murphy,
deron williams is fast becoming a wis staple. good dimes, shoots some 3's, plays a little def and is efficient. he is a prototype chris paul, a poor man's chris paul, which is the kind of pg you should be drafting at the no 12 or 13 spot, and jaotay wasted no time pulling the plug on deron. nice job there. but in the wis nba, it doesn't take long for an elite player like troy murphy to fall from grace. suddenly, the man no longer plays the no. 3 slot, and his def has been drastically reduced. troy murphy is fast becoming a player without a position to play. sure, he has a 31% dreb, but cannot offensively board, and is not a good pf in this game. he cannot play small forward, so what do you do with this guy? marques is an excellent sf choice, especially that 10 board game of his with great efficiency and nice fta's. i like marques and williams, but murphy is a man without a country. interesting to see what jakotay does in the pf round. grade C+/B-

17. badja - Walt Frazier, Ron Harper, Karl Malone, Tyson Chandler,
badja has been building a solid team, quietly behind our backs. he has said, "screw the 3's, give me quality players who d-up." chandler was a great choice for this team, and will allow the mailman room to operate. this a nice supporting cast for him, which is how you should build a team around malone. i think frazier is a highly under rated ;point man in this sim, and he has so many varied seasons to choose from, depending on what kind of team you're building. lots of boards, enough dimes and fta's, plus def makes him a tough guard to pass on these days. nice pick. i like ron harper's game too. some owners are gonna penalize you for such an average sg when other, more prolific players were available at the time, but i like the pick, especially with malone the top gun. i like this team alot, and the chemistry is there. however, this is a tough team to find the right sf to mesh with. interesting problem. still, strong squad. needs some more boards though. playoff bound so far. grade B+

18. sawtech7  - Chauncey Billups, Alvin Robertson, Jerry Lucas, Artis Gilmore,
landing mr. goatee in the 4th, when artis should have gone right after shaq (or in my opinion, before shaq), was a steal for sawtech. and if sawtech uses jerry lucas's 3065 min season (55% fg) which is so good, his frontcourt leaps to the front as being one of the top 3 in the league. wow. and of course, billups falling as far as he did, makes sawtech either the luciest damn dude in this draft, or one of the most clever. great trio! billups, lucas and artis. good god. i do not like the alvin robertson pick. sawtech needed another scorer with low t.o.'s and fouls here. but he should dish to billups and steal the ball. billups does not steal the ball. however, alvin and billups have strong def credentials, as does artis. and lucas will paint the backboard and dish and shoot well. there should be enough fta's with this team to prevent press defenses from being effective. i like this squad, too. grade B+

19. eleibowitz - Anfernee Hardaway, Clyde Drexler, Marcus Camby, Bob Lanier,
at first glance, this team looks ho-hum. no one player is very intimidating nor brings the kitchen sink. but look closer and you will see how the pieces all fit together quite nicely. this is the epitome of "team." these guys will play together well. lanier was chosen over artis, and at first i thought, MISTAKE! but i see now where lanier is a bit cleaner scorer than artis and shoots his fta's much better. doesn't foul as much, and does not turn the ball over like artis. possessions on this team will be used very efficiently. drexler is a great playmaker, and combines with penny, there's some serious talent in the backcourt. camby always surpasses his boards total in the sim. the sim loves his play. lanier gets the orebs and camby gets the drebs. penny shoots some from the arc, and clyde is a superb mid-range guy. owners are forced to play balanced def against these guys and will be hard pressed to take away the ball. this is a very solid group. as indiviuals, ok, but as a team, an iron fist. good job! grade B+/A-

I thought you were in bed!?

I agree that I don't love my teams Chemistry. Part of the problem is that Oscar never hits above tier 3 usage.. so to avoid the penalty consistently I had to grab another tier 3 guy. At least my top 3 usage guys all get to the line.  Worried about 3's, fouls, to's, blocks.. yeah not loving my mix but I wanted to try to build something around oscar. Would have been much easier to just take Billups.. If I had known I could get Wallace in round 2 I probably would have.

i'll take luck over skill anyday.  the trick was to humbly accept LTB's offer for his second team without making it look like I planned it that way all along.

What happened to Jakotay?

scud sez: 18. sawtech7  - "Chauncey Billups, Alvin Robertson, Jerry Lucas, Artis Gilmore,

while I agree Artis was a steal, I beg to differ on the 'before Shaq' bit - Artis doesnt have the high usage, high efg, high FTApm "center of attention" seasons Shaq does and in his highest usage season he's a low tier 2 with an abundance of TOs and PFs
