The Nomar adventure was right in the middle of me trying not to rip the ears off of a service manager at a local truck shop. They did not do the work I asked them to do, and I was about six ways of ****** off. Put me hours behind. Not the day for it.

I just had to look the first guy up. 1890 and 1891 have some real oddball stats due to the uneven scheduling. Some teams played very few games. Interesting pick. I've never seen him used before.

Sisler was an incredible ballplayer. Period.

I just used Shoch in The Juice tournament Round 1, where we had to build a team from just three single seasons from particular eras. He was my best SS option. Played 162 games for me. Made 87 errors, 4 + plays and 8 minus plays. Slashed .271/.355/.345 (my team OPS was .746). We won 91 games, playing in South End Grounds. For perspective, 13 shortstops in the league made more errors than he did. All the pitching was from that era, too, of course.

Just one more reason to love Juice's tournament. You discover these guys you'd never know were out there in MLB history.

I think those 1891 Brewers folded after 36 games, so a guy like Shoch had a solid quarter-season stretched out nicely on a per-162 basis.

We used Dick Allen at 2B in the Big Dick league one season. I think he broke all the rotten fielding records.

We put in a minimum of 20 games played at the position after that fiasco.
