Topic of the day: Global Warming

Is it real or a hoax?
If it's real, is it manmade or a natural cycle?
How do you combat it?
Was is government's role, if any, in combating it?
I missed this one.

Hoax.
There is nothing to combat.

Global Warming is the biggest pseudo-science cult of our lifetimes. It is such a joke the authors had to modify the name to Climate Change and people are still laughing. These clowns keep going back and forth between saying that the we are all already dead because it is too late to we need to act within the next XX years or we will all die. It's comical every time some Al Gore-like nimrod makes another doomsday prophecy. Of course, they don't really believe any of this crap. The masses believe it because the average IQ in the USA is 92. Global Warming is all about money, power and control. It is a new-age new religion that substitutes going to worship once a week with nightly indoctrination as you watch the evening news. Outrageous.

Haha. That post should keep this thread interesting through the rest of the weekend.

Yep. Crazy talk from a head in the sand moron. No offense. Sometimes I agree with goMiami1972. Good yr. for HS Graduations!!

Global warming was a misnomer. The Scientists made a BIG mistake using that acronym. It ISN'T about global warming necessarily. It's all about a changing climate caused by a global rise in average temperatures. THAT causes the oceans to rise as the icecaps melt. (They ARE!)

I'm in AZ. Where we just had the biggest snowfall in over 100 years. (20 inches at my house. I've lived here over 20 years, never EVER had more than 8 inches)......... Climate change will result in some areas becoming warmer, some areas becoming wetter. Some even drier. Some areas will become uninhabitable due to sea level rises. Southern Florida is one of those areas, so we'll see IF goMiami is still laughing (IF he's still alive) when he has to abandon Miami because it's then under water.

98% of ALL environmental scientists and nearly ALL the climatologists agree that the globe is warming, that it WILL cause dramatic climate changes, and that Man is partially responsible.
Your grandkids will call those that ignore the science very bad names! Including there OWN families who did nothing and pooh poohed the warnings!

Even the US Military complex has accepted the reality. THEY have advanced planning for the abandonment of many bases. The relocation of massive amount of troops AWAY from rising sea levels. THEY (the military) have spent $$$$ and have existing plans in place for action when the sea level rise becomes a threat to many of our military bases and complex's.

Just how many carbon spewing engines (factories, etc) do you reckon there ARE globally now?
Just how many do you reckon there were just 250 years ago?
And just why do you think that all those exhaust emissions released into our atmosphere (and trapped there for the most part) doesn't over a long time span have any relation to the (historically fast!) global temperature rise?

The answers might tax folks with IQ's less than the 92 that GoMiami calls average. His comment makes me wonder how far below the average HIS OWN IQ is!

LOL, nice retort. I can't argue with a faith system...which is exactly what Climate Change is. Try arguing with a Christian Scientist that the Earth is older than 6,000 years. They also have their body of proof. The Church of Climate Change uses the "98% of All Environmental Scientists" blatherings to prove their point. Of course, the only people who become Environmental Scientists are true believers anyway. It's not science, it's faith. If it was presented as faith, I would have no problem with it. However, it's presented as genuine research, which is like quoting the Bible to prove that God exists...painfully circular logic.

I'll answer back on a few other comments as they come in (I don't mind receiving as much as I dish out) but I'll probably stop tomorrow. I find talking about Climate Chage with true believers a little boring. When you guys ultimately pass legislation to make Climate Change dissent a crime (as a California legislator wanted to do in 2016) then I'll become more interested. That's probably why the US Military Complex is jumping on the bandwagon to hell. As of yet, you guys are mostly hot air...but big talk always turns into physical oppresion once you've gained enough money, power and control.

Good talk, bob. My IQ (and I don't really believe in IQ scores because they are culturally unequal and thus can't measure accurately) is 143.

hehe. Some pinhead will probably claim genius territory, which I think is 150 and above.

Where is dougout these days?

LOL. Nice retort as well Miami! As with most things time will tell, but I prefer to keep my head out.......... so to speak.
I'll just hope all the scientists are wrong and the deniers know what they're talking about................ WHO am I trying to fool, I can't do that.

As to the IQ stuff. I, too, disagree/don't believe in/with the method of "measure".............

For the record though, Mine is uncalculable.
It is a bit like a guy measuring his own dick though, skewed eyes!

Wow. So what's your answer to the measurable FACT that sea levels are rising and the earths temps are rising.

Also, what's the financial gain to fake all of this?

Wouldn't it be more logical for it to be the other way around? We alreadt know that scientists have been paid to issue anti-climate change studies.

Please forgive those of us who aren't panicking about a .8 (1.4) degree change over the last 139 years. That seems incredibly extreme, even for those on this site who love to be "out there".

According to an ongoing temperature analysis conducted by scientists at NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS), the average global temperature on Earth has increased by about 0.8° Celsius (1.4° Fahrenheit) since 1880.

You clearly do not understand why climate change is an issue.

The issue isn't that we will.be burned alive. The issue is the environmental.damage caused by the slight uptick and the rising.sea levels which could cause natural disasters and flooding.

Climate change IS happening. We don't know what % is man made vs. natural progression.

Sigh...and even if we did it has to be a Global Effort. Good luck getting China, Russia and India to agree.

Hey tang,

Look, I have spoken with enough Global Warming adherents to know the drill. I will get asked to explain all of these phenomena. The problem is that, while it is a fact that sea levels are rising, it is NOT a fact that Climate Change, as intentionally, nebulously ill-defined by the political Environmentalists, is the cause. By asking the question, it insinuates a cause and effect relationship between sea levels and Climate Change. It is a rhetorical strategy that uses a loaded question. Science employs methods to isolate a variable that can then be tested repeatedly to acheive a predictable result. The question is asked FIRST and then the conclusion is written after the tests are performed. What's going on right now is the opposite. Researchers begin with a conclusion (Gobal Warming is the cause) and then work backwards to support it. Why? Because there isn't a variable that can be isolated due to the vastness of the question. Read up on String Theory or Einstein's Unified Field Theory. They are great examples of when "science" tackles too vast of a question and simply starts guessing. Scientists really don't know why sea levels are rising and can't prove it cause through the scientific method. So, they have created a plausible guess which is, in effect, a belief system. You either believe in Climate Change (like people believe in a God) or you don't.

One of these days, the definitive Environmental manifesto will be released and we will all finally understand what the goals behind this really is. Perhaps the Green New Deal is that document, although I doubt it, where the facade over caring about the planet can finally be dropped and we will all be told what is at stake (hint: it's a desire for absolute power.) Until then, the game stretches on with no end in sight. Al Gore is bound to make a third documentary - An Inconvenient Hoax that Made Me a Lot of Money and Set Up a New Global Socio-Political Power Elite.
