When a ML'er demands a contract, Im guessing his overall rating has a lot to do with the amount he's looking for...

But what if the guy has a low overall rating, but pretty decent big league ratings?  Could he be signed for much cheaper?

I'm pretty sure it's overall with some positional bias.    IOW, an 80 2B might be paid comparably to a 75 1B.   The player you listed will be rather cheap because he's not going to be able to play that much with the low DUR.

How are you on signing a Type A when you have the 21st overall pick, and the player quality probably doesn't equal what the 21st pick would become, but you feel he's the missing link for this year?

I don't make any bets on what any unnamed player will become.   If I need a player right now, I'll get him right now and not think about the player I missed out on.

I'd rather not think about your childhood.

I think it's safe to say that death does not have a missing link this season unless it's the piece of the puzzle that brings him from 74 wins to 79 wins.
