Per USA Today, they're not discussing the nature of,  or prognosis for Raymond.

First NHL playoffs Muddy? LOL.

He'll be listed day-to-day with an upper body injury, then Thursday it'll come out that he has a broken leg, broken neck, 17 fractured vertebrae and GERD.

Broken vertebra, I guess.

better question is, who do they dress in his place?

I'd go with Hodgson after seeing the jump Seguin has had in his legs, but you're not going to put him in the top-6. What do  the Canucks lines look like for Game 7? Bolduc another option, but he's strictly a 4th liner. Is Samuelsson available?

Samuelsson is done.

VAN  5/19/2011
Samuelsson (leg) underwent surgery to repair his adductor tendon and sports hernia Thursday and is out indefinitely, reports Dan Rosen of NHL.com. This operation will end Samuelsson's season. He scored just one goal and notched two assists in 11 postseason games.

My guess would be either Tambellini (ugh) or Hodgson.

Forgive me for not being as tuned in to USA Today as you seem to be.

Did they say what happened to Raymond?
They reported on the News in Vancouver this morning either a ruptered disc or fractured vertebrea.  Out minimum 4-6 months.

So lets see

Illegal hit - yes, interference and a late finished check.
Receiving player in a vulnerable position - yes.  Having hour head held down and being pushed backwards into the boards would qualify.
Serious resulting injury - Yes, probably more serious than indicated above
Precedent in the playoffs - Suspension for the remainder of the series if the above criteria are met.

NHL response to this injury?????

Surely they will do the right thing???????

Vancouver/CKNW(AM980)

Vancouver Canucks forward Mason Raymond will be out of commission for 3 to 4 months, and we now know why.
President and GM, Mike Gillis says Raymond suffered a vertabrae compression fracture. The NHL has said it will not take another look into the hit.

I see a patern here.  Any hit made by a Boston Bruin's player, that results in a vertebral fracture to the oposing player, is automatically considered legal, no questions asked.  Espescially in the oposing player is on a Canadian based team.

Time to call up Oggie Ogalthorpe

paul, the Boychuk play was VERY different than the Chara-Pacioretty incident. The way I see it, they both were skating towards the corner when the puck was headed there. Then the puck made it's way into the middle of the ice, and their momentum carried them into the boards. Raymond going in "butt" first if you will was probably what caused the injury. He hit the boards and his spine got crunched. Boychuk didn't send him flying into the boards and didn't exactly guide his head anywhere specific like Chara did.

In my opinion, that's why the NHL didn't see the hit as malicious and regarded the injury as an unfortunate accident that occured because of Raymond's body position and both players momentum. Boychuk did not necessarily cause the injury. That being said, an interference penalty would probably have been warranted, but no more than that I don't think.

I have to say seems the same as Rome so actually side with vancouver fans

But it's often said winners don't make excuses they just win... Vancouver doesn't make excuses, they flat out whine

Stellar goaltending last nite ..That sparkling .773 save%  and 15 goals on 66 shots spells Conn Smythe trophy and future Hall of Famer...how many more years of this guy do we need to take?  throw on the Leaf jersey already..Let Schneider start game 7 ,he will be our starter for the next 10 years  any way..maybe the Aquilini's just buy out Luongo? cut him adrift.

I wont comment on the hit,i already knew Dad wouldnt do anything..it so obvious  check the jersey before raising your arm to call a penalty..

I understand and respect the fact that most of you will have opposite opinions on the hit, but there is no conspiracy against Vancouver, or any other team. if they get beat, its on them not the officials or the league, or even the brains, because they should be Stanley cup camps with the team they have.
