Did Palin make Bachmann viable? Topic

Then like will I have to wonder why, if "smaller government" is what you consider the centerpiece of the GOP platform, you would then proceed to list things that require a larger government to enact or defend.

Sometimes you need to make a compromise. I assume you accept that banning gay marriage isnt really adding to government. Abortion bans also create and subtract. On issues like Defense I could see a cut being acceptable but I would rather win with an 80% platform than lose with an 100% platform.

The real question is what will happen if Palin enters the race.

She clearly has the street cred over Bachmann, but Bachmann has a war chest and momentum.

It could hurt Perry as she would take more of the Fundie support away from him. It could help Romney as he could seem like the one moderate in a sea of Conservatives.

There would be a lot of press coverage for a while. Would make it hard for someone like Ryan to jump in.

Could look like more of the same, and make a Christie run viable, although I dont think he wants it.

In the end Palin would energize the Republican side. And if she was knocked out by Bachmann it might make a bachmann run...Viable?

I will even vote in the primary for Bachmann if she is on the ballot. I can't wait to see you get massacred in the presidential election.

Bachmann is not a viable candidate.    No idea why swampy bumped this thread.

She won a very minor straw poll.

I realze that it isnt a real; indicator, other then the fact that she did win. Why didnt anyone else step up?

She may have a small fanatic group that will vote for her no matter what, like Paul has.

I think it shows some work ethic in her.

Bachmann at even 5% in a general election would spell doom for America.

You know I would never vote for Dennis Kucinich in a promary because I think he would lose in the general.

I hope you are kidding.

I like Bachmann, you consider her a dangerous idiot.

What if she got nominated and they find out something horrible about Obama and she wins?

In America. How many candidates have ever done worse than 44%? Mondale against a super popular Reagan? Goldwater who people thought would destroy the world?

It assumes no strong third party.
