The D is very important.
Yeah, but your problem is offense. You rely too heavily on your Small Forward.
Nice.

Unless you're talking about changing jobs, which is another topic, you absolutely can get backups lined up. But the users who come to the forums to complain choose not to play that way. That's a gameplay and expectations issue.
I agree to an extent, you can get back ups lined up if you are battling for guys that have an early signing...but for the late signers it is more difficult to have backup options if you are in a battle.
You can have backups lined up for late guys too, but it starts early in the first session. It can get complicated, if you have a bold D2 or D3 deciding to reach up and invest, and especially if the prime guy is taking his time in the second session, but usually if you're on a guy from the start, the lower level teams move on early. Trying to move in *after* those lower level teams have already invested is not the way to do it. It's like trying to buy life insurance after 50. Now the price is much higher.

Some don't like to play this way - which is fine - because they'd rather invest all their APs on their top targets, to maximize their chances. Totally valid. But then you can't complain about the consequence, which is that if you strike out, you are behind the eight-ball.

Those extra 3-5 APs per cycle don't really move the needle much at all on a recruit you're going to go all in on anyway. Sure it matters, maybe a couple of percentage points at the end. But there's not a lot of value there. They are far more valuable on recruits that are not going to get a ton of attention, or visits from high prestige teams. That's why siphoning off 3-5 APs per cycle from your top target to cultivate a backup over the course of a recruiting session can pay off for people who, for whatever reason, don't want to take a walk-on in that slot.
Superior advice, shoe. Only the blind could argue with that.

Of course, there is a lot of that going around.
So let me see if I understand this. Despite zorzii saying he went "all-in" on several recruits (HV, CV, promises, etc) you say he didn't do enough to swing the needle more in his favor. Yet you also say he should have used APs to unlock more backup options, which takes away from his effort on his primary targets. And you wonder why no one can stand you commenting on D1 recruiting? You can't even figure out how to belittle people without contradicting yourself.

Zagsrulez made a statement seeking clarification and I answered him.
Your girlfriend must love your passive aggressiveness.
Whatever do you mean poopman?
Almost as much traction as your 2 D3 WIS HD national championships, I bet.
More traction than the guy with 1 DI Sweet 16.

Cubby with the beanie burn attempt. Nice try, but reading fail, kiddo.

You should probably listen to cubcub poopman. He has more success in 6 seasons at a D prestige D1 school than you have had in almost 40 B6 seasons. Maybe he'd be willing to mentor you.

Small forward a little tender, dukie?

Remind us again why you don't join a big 6 conference? You are supposedly about competition. Why are you hiding in an empty conference? At least join a real mid-major. Chapel left you a nice team you'd have been qualified for in Cincy. You could have joined your pal 0nly. Rhetorical question, we all know the answer. At least 0nly had the guts to try a shot at Big 6 competition.

I dont claim to be the most successful coach here. Nor do I use success as some kind of barometer for determining who gets to defend an opinion on the forums, like a few dipshits we know and barely tolerate. I pay for the game, I like challenges, I like rebuild projects, and I don't mind taking lumps. If you think you can beat me, come and join us.

Just trying to get you some help. Calm down.

I get it, because I called you a *******, you think I'm worked up. Nah. It's a term of endearment. I'm just honestly curious how you rationalize to yourself talking about other people's sim game achievements.
10/1/2017 4:52 PM
Because this is a forum about a sim game?
10/1/2017 4:59 PM
Wait did Benis just get insulted for winning at a Mid-Major because it is easier there?
10/1/2017 5:00 PM
I told my gf I made it to the Final Four and she was super impressed! But then I told her I did it at New Mexico State and she made me sleep on the couch and told me to come back when I did something original.

No. I called him - and now you - dipshits for trying to enforce some kind of forum "success" barometer while simultaneously inflating your own successes. It's an observation, not an insult.

Right now, it absolutely is more challenging to take over a Big 6 rebuild in a full conference than it is to build a contender in an empty conference. If you don't think that's true, join a mostly full Big 6 conference and prove it.

Of course, none of this is germane to the topic of how it is invalid to whine about not being able to get all the commodities you would like to have while playing what is basically a commodity game. Players make choices, choices have results, and those results are predictable based on very simple understanding of economics. Instead of engaging that discussion, benis, his Duke of Obfuscation title well earned and on display, chose to passive aggressively suggest that I just wasn't very good at the game. And here we are.
