140M Teammate Draft, 2019 Topic

I added a new tab to the player / draft spreadsheet that shows a matrix of which owners have taken teammates of which nominated players. The order that the owners are displayed on the left will be updated each round.

Good pick. Surprised he lasted this long. I heavily debated taking him, but figured I might regret not going pitcher.

Joe Wood via Tris Speaker
Is it safe to assume Wood's hitting seasons are also now off limits, too?

Was hoping Gehrig would make it. Need to do research tonight -- will pick later

Thanks - I was surprised he was still there but I might regret not getting pitching and then not getting an earlier pick in round 2. I had a nomination strategy I was comfortable with but I’m not sure yet on the right drafting strategy

Those are the reasons I passed on him. But I don't claim to have any particular certainty that's a great idea. Not taking the best players available seems like a potentially poor strategy, but I don't seem to be the only person who took that approach at the outset.

Still, one imagines the fans saying, "Wait, you passed on Lou Gehrig so you could draft Stan Coveleski?"

I almost took Gehrig, just to be able to be able to efficiently use up my $140M salary. But watching him him 18 HRs against all a plethora of deadball pitching wasn't something I wanted to deal with, plus 1B is deep.

Plus I was worried my starting pitcher ace would be XXXXXXX. (deleted)

This is why I liked this theme idea. It's uncomfortable but still fun

These picks have so much risk! Very challenging. Feels really weird to leave some players on the board. I agonized over this for quite a while.

I am going with Jack Taylor. Teammate of Johnny Evers
