seay00, you have a solid team. Lots of options at P so I can't really impact you too much there. My choice came down to taking away your one cheap 1B option, forcing you to roster at least one high priced mediocre guy, or taking away your one superstar with the bat. I'll take away the bat. Good bye Mel Ott.

Damn. I was hoping to have Ott on my final roster. Clearly, the best overall bat in the 4 teams. Back to the drawing board. Which stadium are you daggering?

oh yeah. sorry. no Polo Grounds.

Daggering Jeff He has built a solid offence with 66 Orioles and 76 Rangers there are lots of options to pick from. When we come to the Pitchers there is some options but my dagger is someone who would have been on the final roster because of how affordable he is. So say goodbye to Bert Blyleven and Jack Murphy Stadium

jonstephen's round 4 pick of Atlanta was really clever - I was also considering them because of how flexible their stars are. So, which of their flexible stars are the most important? I think Hank Aaron, because he can play 2B and your next best option is 35 points back in OPS+ and 55 back in SLG+. A clean up hitter becames a black hole at #8. Even down 755 HR's, your line-up seems formidable.

I gave lots of consideration to Torre, Alou, and Carty but you did have other solid options without their flexibility. I also considered Uhle, but I would rather make you overpay for his innings, as there are real trades offs for doing so.

Sportsman's Park is long gone and also gone. Mostly I am trying to keep my own players from getting distracted by the St. Louis scene.

There's nothing I can do to stop fatguy from being a big problem in my division. He is stacked with great offensive options and pitching with reasonable price tags. So I'm just going to dagger the guy that I think is his best player in 3B Mike Schmidt. I'll also dagger Veterans Park.

well eman... it looks like you have given yourself decent choices all through the line up... i looked at your best hitter but decided at this cap you can have him (and more importantly you have other decent options there.)

so... pitchers? 6 guys with an erc# under 3. two of them over 200 ip. one of them with a .96 hr/9#.. so i'll dagger the other one.
Macfayden, Danny 1936 Boston Bees
will be staying home. or perhaps he can throw some innings at riverfront stadium because your team won't be there.

BeAllEndAll has a lack of SS depth. He has Luis Aparicio at 3.3 mil, Tom Veryzer at 1.8 mil, Jim Fregosi at 4.9 mil, and Zoilo Versalles at 2.9 mil with D+ fielding. My dagger is SS - Tom Veryzer.

I would hate to waste 6-8 million on the crappy options left at SS.

Good luck.

Also say goodbye to pitcher friendly Angels Stadium.

Well, I am daggering razorclams
He has lots of players that can play multiple positions, so I narrowed it down to a few players. He has no cheap SS option and only 4 players. Maury Wills can also play 3B, but he has a .314 OBP and no power. He has a few options at other infield positions, but I am going to dagger his best infield hitter in Lou Gehrig 1B. Bring on Babe Ruth and Sandy Koufax, but juggle them into the cap.
That being said, I am not letting Ruth bash in Fulton County Stadium.

jwillis has a lot to choose from in the 4 rosters. Each dagger option could be covered by something else; He also has multiple places to go cheap and grab the right pitchers. Considered the best hitting SS in Vern Stephens at a good price, but you may opt for defense there anyway and save a few bucks. Maybe AL Simmons off your 2nd team pick? Still see a way out there to get 6 off that team even if Simmons was daggered. What about Bob Nieman? Or Triandos at C? Problem is all those thrifty bums on that bench just allow you to eat up roster spots and then pivot to your other teams where you have good talent at the same positions. Helps me none to ruin your chances of repeating.

With the hitters, I zig and you have the zag available. Same with your starting pitchers. But in the bullpen. ah-ha! There are only two nice arms to close games on your 4 rosters. Specifically, two on that Yankees team. Looks like a great 1-2 punch. Gettel then Ruffing to shut the door.

There is 1 thing about top set up guys and closers that everybody wants-- the best possible option that does NOT lose games. Therefore, NO-RED-RUFFING-FOR-YOU. Apropos he is daggered with the neutral ballpark effects of Memorial Stadium.

So, I get to dagger redcped. The very same redcped who is currently in overall first place in the WISC.

His first pick was the 1956 Braves which have some really good hitting players with manageable costs (Adcock, Mathews, Hammerin' Hank) as well as some strong pitching relative to the overall talent pool in this league (Spahn, Burdette, maybe Taylor Phillips).

His second team is the 1936 Cincy Reds. Nice platoon catcher option with Lombardi and probably a lock to make the OF in Cuyler. Pitching? Paul Derringer and the gang are gonna get rock-and-roll-hootchie-cooed. Of course, he did get some cheap roll players to add to the mix.

His third team is 1936 Dodgers. Another platoon catcher option in Phelps, some cheap help in good spots. Pitching? Van Lingle Mungo (anybody know that David Frishberg song?) and 34 innings of "the other" Dutch Leonard

His fourth team is the 1976 Astros. Again, some decent potential starters and plenty of insurance cheap backup. Pitching? JR Richard (currently 12-16 for my $80mm team in the WISC with a 5.02 ERA and 1.79 WHIP. Of course, we can rightfully blame the manager for most of that. As expected there is bullpen help with this Astros team but not as much as usual.

All of that being said, he does not have a particularly vulnerable position where one removed option would cost him seriously.

I look at his starting pitching and wonder how he will manage to get his team to the 95+ win plateau, which he will inevitably do. Especially, without much presence from the left-hand side now that the obvious dagger pick of Warren Spahn is now official.

Of course, the Astrodome, is daggered as well

midknight, you may dagger someone from the 1936 Cincinnati Reds to complete my torture.

Seay -- you may throw your last dagger at my 1976 Cardinals

Beernoser, take aim at my 1956 Orioles.
8/2/2023 7:06 PM
_jwillis, take aim at my '26 Phils for the last dagger
8/2/2023 7:40 PM
Lenny, you can dagger off of the 36 Phillies.
