I pay $100 every 3 months for 6 teams, and I could not think of better entertainment at the price unless Penthouse lowers their rates
I forget to check my team quite often

At Midd Tenn St., it is hard to fall in love with HD. You were one of the first to make D1 in Tark. A couple good recruiting years and you are right there in the mix. Don't give up now, blackmink.

i have had 3 amazing classes (for MTSU standards). My problem is iy have a .600 winning % against humans, but am probably around .300 winning% against terrible sim teams.

Well, you had 9 non-con games vs. humans and went 3-6.
Maybe you should re-examine your strategy vs. sims.

There goes that damn Daalter. Letting the facts get in the way of a good argument again. Stop it.

I can tell you this: Once my free seasons (from reward points) run out, I will not be spending another penny on this site.
I am extremely tired of losing reward points because of ridiculous upsets by 300+ rpi sims that keep my teams on the bubble and out of NT contention.
I am extremely tired of NT upsets that make absolutely no sense, such as my loss last night in Crum. My VMI team, running a man-to-man with D ratings at least 15-20 pts higher than the competition generates 6 more fouls and allows 17 more FT's than my opponent, running a FCP, slower at every position save the SF, and losses to a 59 rpi team (my rpi was 15). I shoot under 50% against this lower rated D team, while they shoot over 50%?
I run a lot of FCP teams, and they usually win because of TO's. Not this time. We basically generated the same amount of TO's and steals. The core reason I lost was because of FOULS, which a FCP will normally generate more of than any other defensive setting.
It is these sort of bullshit results that continue to happen regularly that are driving customers away.
I am not saying that every game should go exactly to chalk, but these sorts of upsets happen far too frequently. Just because it happened once 30 years ago does not mean it should happen repeatedly in HD.

Actually over the past few seasons Ive only had 1-2 games a year that have me scratching me head.
Although it still drives me crazy, I can handle that amount of randomness.

Actually, the core reason you lost was a gameplanning mistake -- playing a -1 vs. a team that shoots a whole lot of threes, and they took advantage by going 11-20 against you from behind the arc to win by 3. You play a + defense as you should've and you win without a problem.

And your rpi was better, but talent-wise these teams are pretty darn even. I don't think you have any sort of gripe. It wasn't even much of an upset, it was a loss between two fairly equivalent teams that hinged on a coaching mistake.

Actually, daalter, if you look at every one of their losses this season, they lost to teams playing -2 or -3 every time. No one that played them in a plus defense beat them.
The reason I lost this game is because my better rated defensive M2M team generated more fouls (out of my PG, SG and SF) playing a -1 then their FCP team did (with lower ratings at speed at every position and lower D ratings).
Look at the FT shooting % for the game. If I get the inexplicable imbalance in fouls is even, I win this game easily.
Don't try to blame this one on a coaching mistake.

Also, how does my PG foul out in 15 minutes, playing a -1 M2M against their PG that is 12 pts slower?
Your reasoning is more flawed than my game plan.
8/17/2007 9:19 AM
If you say so, chief.
8/17/2007 11:20 AM
i will back bdub here up in a general way - our CUSA conference this year has had bizarre foul totals all season long
8/17/2007 11:38 AM
Oh, I'm not disputing that there may be weird stuff sometimes w. fouls -- I know foul disparity is a hot button issue for you, VD, and you know quite well I'm not exactly in love w. the sim.
I'm not defending the sim, I'm just talking about the W/L in this particular game. He lost by 3 in OT, and if he takes the measure not to get busted on from 3p range by a team that shoots lots of threes, that simply doesn't happen. If it makes him happy to believe otherwise, fantastic. Whatever gets you through the night.

unfortunately for conversations like these, gameplanning might be way overrated.
I wonder if 1000 games were simmed at each of -5 all the way to +5, nothing else changes at all, vs 2 equal teams, just what the variation in wins vs losses might be .... as many of you know, my guess (it is a guess), is not much variation!

You know OR, I wonder if admin would ever present that kind of data to us? Take a randomly sampled NT title game or 2, sim them each exactly the way you described and present the results. Could be quit interesting.
