PACKERS: Datone Jones is latest DL bust drafted Topic

This has most likely been said. It's sad to see such a great player & leader; now at the centre of a Three Ring Circus (he's in all 3 rings). I've always thought Favre to such a class act but this whole mess has me reconsidering that opinion.

Not only does this whole "mess" look bad on him but also a classy organization is smeared ... I can't see any winners in this. Well, maybe the reporters.

Reports this morning that the Packers have offered Brett a 10-year, $20M personal services contract to stay retired.

Neither the Players Union or Goodel will allow it, much less Farve isn't even going to accept it. Packers look like idiots. They are going to be forced to trade Farve to the team of his choice or release him.

I could be wrong, but I still think they'd rather him be the backup than trade him to the "team of his choice" (aka Vikings).

If the Packers were willing to pay him this much to stay away, I'd think they'd be willing to pay him to just walk around camp doing whatever makes him happy. just because they pay him, and he's around, doesn't mean he has to be allowed to participate.

You guys just don't understand NFL Lockerrooms, no way can the Packers have Farve on that team and expect him to be the backup. Rodgers will get booed off the field by the fans and the veteran players will be very vocal about Farve not playing, not to mention the media circus.

If Rodgers doesn't perform, he is getting booed off the field with or without Favre there. There is no else for the fans to take their frustrations out on but him. I actually feel sorry for the guy.

Favre reportedly considering the personal services offer, which is being portrayed this morning as NOT contingent on his retiring.

That's good to hear. Offering Favre a $20 million bribe to stay retired would've been the stupidest thing the Packers could've done.

This is the same newspaper that claimed Favre called Childress and Bevell on a Packers-issued cell phone. How much can this be trusted? It sounds like another made-up story to deflect attention again.
8/1/2008 2:11 PM
That was very possibly true. The company issued cell phone was against league policy so the Pack had to back off the claims.....allegedly.

No action taken by commish on the reinstatement petition today.

The Packers and Ryan Grant agreed today to a 4-year deal worth up to $30 million today, ending Grant's holdout. The MJS reported today that Grant was seeking a deal worth up to $40 million, but the Packers and Grant were able to agree to less.

Commish apparently setting Monday deadline for Favre decision.
