How about this: go grab some numbers from existing HBD worlds. Not just a team or three, the whole league. Hopefully make it 5-ish seasons of data per world and establish where things are at. Make sure we're not just noticing the exceptions because they're exceptions and creating a false perception from it. Also, be sure to note any team record outliers (extremely high or low amounts of wins) because your average joke world will cough up an inordinate amount of road wins because of the inordinately bad teams and your inordinately stocked teams will win more than their share of road games. And regular season only, since the playoffs are victims of the short sample size.

This has been 10 pages of blah blah and surprisingly little actual data involved. Let's see what HFA there might already be, if any.

Road fatigue isn't a bad idea either, but it would have to be really moderated since we can't self-schedule. It would suck for someone's team to get beat up by fatigue because they got randomly stuck with a 26-game road trip.

Schedules would have to be somehow balanced a lot more, and rotate somewhat so a team isn't stuck with a big road trip right before the playoffs every season.

Less arbitrary schedules will be a "must".

That said, keeping intra-divisional games at the end should, relatively, reduce problems heading into the playoffs.

IMHO, home field advantage should NOT be plugged in as an automatic boost. However, if they choose to use temper, patience, and makeup to determine whether a player performs better at home or on the road (small increments), that would be a happy medium.

For example, a HIGH temper, LOW patience, LOW makeup player (Milton Bradley) would be more likely to perform below his ratings on the road due to heckling, lack of sleep, travel, etc.

A LOW temper, HIGH makeup player wouldn't see any dropoff on the road.

From one of the other Home Field Advantage whine-a-thon threads.

Just what we don't need. Yet another factor to make players underperform.

Good idea. Start any time.

You don't get it under either (any?) of your names, swamp. Time to give it a rest.

An edge in what? Everything, across the board? Sounds like you agree with schuyler/swamp. Arbitrary, just to do it, based on nothing in particular? Hello, schuyler/swamp.

Everybody seems to think their own idea to change something is the best ever. None of them have stood up to scrutiny so far.

Poor snake, still trying to re-live what he thinks are his glory days.

Scrutinize the idea, ant, the idea. If you think your idea has any merit, defend it. If you see it may not, accept it.

Your attempts at snake bashing fell flat before, you whining about being exposed in a way you didn't want your RL boss to see, IIRC. Don't think that you will do one whit better this time around. Back down while you can.

Scrutinize the idea, ant, the idea.

The "problem" is that no one has provided a well-thought out solution. Just randomly saying 10% isn't a solution. It's just a number picked from thin air. I'd be a lot more open to the suggestion if I didn't fear it would be a massive clusterf**k upon implementation that would need a series of adjustments. I don't want to see .500 teams with 1-12 road trips and then turn around and go 10-1 at home.

Dumbasses.

You posted yours while I was composing mine. I was at work and was interrupted mid-post.

Plus, mine was written better.
