Yep, I bet there will be alot of teams w/o "real" relievers. I wasn't joking when I drafted a $10M Bob Gibson as a long reliever.

When I picked my Hubbell, I figured I was golden with Terry at 1b and Ott in the Outfield. In the end, Terry is off the team and Ott is borderline. I found myself getting too caught up in the teammates and forgetting I only get to keep 9 and some of them may need to be backups.

That's the main reason I ended up picking a "good" Schmidt to be my starting 3b, and might still have even if I hadn't overlooked 1930 Hubbell. Maddox and Reed might or might not make the team, but I'm getting pretty full of teammates.

The quality of batters people will have is amazing. Hubbell 30 wasn't even on my radar, because I just wanted the best Mel Ott, for a HR stadium I could get and 1930 didn't make the top 5. And I don't have enough teammate slots for Lindstrom anyway. Already 8 teammate spots spoken for,but I'm rethinking one of those. So many different ways to go here, I just love this theme idea!

whew it's been a long day...

Thanks schwarze for getting the next round ready!

The Bill Dahlen situation is due to the update. I had his salaries wrote down before the update along with a few others but didn't change them with the others after the update because sgsmith was contemplating a change with his pick. Then when he decided to stick with Dahlen I forgot to go back and make the changes. Totally my fault!!
Since we are this far I don't see much point in changing them now. We'll use the old salaries to determine $$$ going forward. Keep in mind once you make your Dahlen pick and draft him onto your roster that your team salary won't matchup with my posted salaries for draft order.

Well, then, not *totally* your fault, right? Here I was trying to figure out why Dahlen would be different from the other guys nominated pre-update, and it was my own indecision that caused it.

I had other guys change picks and I didn't mess them up. I take the blame! The update came at a bad time. I should have waited with all the players. I wanted to get a jump start on getting some of the players done so I didn't have so many to do at the end. Got in too much of a hurry!

Commenting...... some of you have said your teams aren't very good or should be better. I can honestly say this draft has taken me by surprise as well. I didn't think there would be as much emphasis on the teammates in the early rounds like it has worked out. I didn't look that far ahead figuring everyone would do as I was planning to do and get them later. By the 2nd round I already had to change my strategy. I've got Terry at 1st and Ott for the OF as well or even McGriff at 1st. I feel a bit short changed at pitcher even with 31Hubbell, 94Maddux and 62Gibson. My hitters haven't given me any teammates that I consider are useable pitchers for this league. With each round I have a sinking feeling in my stomach going deeper and deeper!

I think that when this league is near completion, start up another one and blacklist the 16 players chosen from this league.

I plan on doing just that...... First season owners will have first chance to get in on season 2. I'm thinking of making a couple minor changes already for season 2. One, would be sitemailing players nominated to me instead of announcing them in the forum. You'll wait to pick which season you are going to take of your nominee until the first round of the draft. Two, would be not allowing you to take any teammates from your own nominated player! Not sure on that last one..... just thinking yet!
