Brian Campbell out 4-6 weeks with a sprained knee, paving the way for Nick Leddy to make the club.  He may not stick after Soup's return, but the experience will do him some good.  The cap relief will help a bit too.

anyone repeating as cup champs is highly unlikely in today's NHL.  i'll say this though.  i'd bet they repeat as division champs.  maybe even top spot in the conference.  :>

I don't expect a repeat. I do expect a decade of serious contention and great careers from Toews, Kane and Keith.

So the banner raising is happening Saturday night in a ceremony before the game.  For the first time in 49 years, Hawks fans will see this happen, and I'll be there!!.  My buddy got two seats and invited me to go with.  I can hardly believe my luck, though I did take him to the first night game at Wrigley on 8/8/88.  I hope I'm able to retain my masculinity when I'm crying in front of 21,000 people.

Nice.  Don't worry, no one will notice you're blubbering, they'll be doing the same.

If the Blackhawks need a stupid fan poll for motivation, then we can forget about a repeat performance. 

Tough loss, but Turco looked really good. I liked Leddy too.

You thought Turco looked good? I thought he was still in pre-season form. In any case they started slow last season too until Toews came back from injury and they went on that ridiculous 14-0-2 run or whatever it was...Maybe something similar will happen with Campbell here. I'd bet they're just above .500 until he returns and by the time he does, Turco will be in mid-season form as will all the "kids". I love how because of his salary, people don't realize hoe important Campbell is on our back end. He's probably the best #3 defenseman on any team, 7 million dollars notwithstanding.

Did you not see the 6 or 7 brilliant saves he made?  I love his game and his puck-handling.  He's top-quality back there, or damn close to it.

Some great, good and bad last night....

Great....the ceremony.  The waterworks started when they played the tribute video, stopped for a bit when they brought the team out, and really got rolling when some of the members of the '61 team unrolled the new banner at one end of the ice and the remaining members of the current champs skated over and took it, then skated it down to the other end and raised it to the rafters.  I was sobbing like a ***** and don't care who knows it.  My buddy next to me lost it too. 

Good...Skille and some of the new guys look good.  I love Bickell's release and Leddy needs either and increased role or to be sent to Rockford to play 24 minutes a game. 

Bad...the team came out kinda flat, which is sort of expected on any banner or ring night.  They managed to tie it twice, but looked like hot garbage on the last 3 power plays when we had chances to either tie or take the lead.  Hossa was great all night tho....the man is a beast.  Turco was awful on that last goal, but that situation never should have developed, but Lurch fell down at the blue line to set up the 3 on 1.


One point out of a possible 4 isn't very good, but we'll get rolling soon enough.
