question, how important is games played for 2nd, and 3 lines and pairings?  What amount of games played should I aim for for those lesser lines?

Games played % is directly related to injury chance and severity.  Aim for at least 75% games played to avoid serious injury.  Below that and you risk real problems... you start to be able to reasonably expect that player to play about as many games as he did in real life.
