OK.  My kids are back with their mom.  Divorces are tough.  Sorry about the weekend.  I was supposed to not have the kids, and thus I scheduled the draft for this weekend.  However, life happened, and I had my kids this weekend through today.  I just got back from dropping them off an hour and a half from my house.  It is now 2:39am.

Dill...  I think I did a very decent job of doing the proxy picks up until Saturday when I was forced into this situation, and I apologize.   Those who sent me proxies had them selected, Dill excluded.  And the front page was being updated every 45-60 min. 

I should have frozen the draft.  It would have been the smarter and wiser thing to have done.  I knew I had my kids, and was not going to be able to designate time to do the upkeep.  My apologies for not having frozen the draft for the weekend.  If there are enough who are displeased, we can re-do the draft from Saturday until the completion of the draft, as Wednesday-Friday was FINE.  I admit, Saturday through today was a mess.  I dont think it is necessary, but if enough want to to that, I think it is fine.

I am however, FREEZING THE DRAFT NOW.

As it stands, there is one round left.  I will make my 6th round pick, and pick for the 2 absentee teams as well to finish up the 6th round.

I WILL HAVE THE DRAFT PAGE ON THE FRONT UPDATED TOMORROW.

The draft will complete on Wednesday.  There will be a one day freeze to allow me to update, and take the thoughts of those who signed up for what I think will be a great league, and/or series of leagues with a great group of GMs who without sitemailing it seems.....   picked their teams pretty much without incident.

When we complete the draft on Wednesday, it will either be the FOURTH round again, with picks 1-3 standing, or it will be ROUND 7, with all 6 previous raounds standing.  I want to hear from you all on the matter.

And D...  I dont think you understand the stadium selection........   I will explain it again.

There is no drafting of stadiums.

When you put your team together in the draft center, and you complete the drafting, you have to select the stadium for your team.  When I make the league, I will make it with 24 unique stadiums available to choose from.  As the teams get entered into the league, they will be eliminated.  Those who enter the team first, get a larger pool to choose from.  Those who dilly dally, and dont enter their team will have fewer to choose from, until the last straggler will have his stadium chosen for him as the other 23 will have been chosen.  This means that the sooner you enter your team after the league ID has been issued (and every team will be told exactly when the league id will be handed out, so you all have the same opportunity to get a stadium fitting your team) the more options you will have.  Hope I explained it better this time 

The stadium issue is a problem. I would let owners take any stadium they wish that was in use during this time period. If we have several owners with the same stadium it is not the end of the world. I do not like the idea of  a redraft.

No redraft it will take a nother week if you do so do the best you can to get this stated by TH OR FRI OK buts up to you

I owe one pick from yesterday, but will wait until the front page is updateded before selecting.

Do NOT want to do a redraft but I will stay with the league either way.

Thanks for explaining the stadium selection again, e ...my point is this. When we all start to make our 7th round picks, those owners who pick early in the day will have an opportunity to enter their teams before other owners have even made their final pick. Therefore there is an unfair advantage. I hope I expressed my concern more clear this time

i dont think the league will be set up until after everyone has finished drafting...at least thats the way i understand what eschwartz is saying.  still, in future versions, i would make the stadiums a group and have them be selectable in any round just like any other group.  maybe pair them with a 250-350 PA hitter or something if you want to have it paired with something.

the point is that eschwartz cant help but have the first stadium pick because he is setting up the league.  also, we know that its 24 unique stadiums, but no one knows exactly what those are so we couldnt have even drafted our team with a couple of them in mind.  this is not meant as a shot at how this has gone, just a suggestion for the next time.

also, no weekend drafting next time.

The owners must have made their OWN MESS.  I know who has been picked and I know who is still available.  It was not tough to keep track.  I definately do not want to redraft but I guess I will if I have no choice because I want to stay in this league.

I am with Paul....The commish has not done that bad of a job. I kept my own lists and READ THE POSTS to see who was taken...it was not that complicated. And besides life happens and kids take precedent over everything else. It seems the commish is back and everything will run again smoothly. PS always proxy more than just one person, to ensure your pick is made

NO to Re Draft

I will abstain from voting on a redraft until more opinions are heard. I don't need the redraft myself but I feel for the overall health of the league that a redraft may be necessary, and it was my idea. So I will wait until more have expressed their opinions.

As for the stadiums issue, I LOVE the idea of drafting the stadiums paired with a part time hitter in future seasons.

Commish, I think you have done a pretty good job too and I don't necessarily think I could have done better, but just due to the missing of proxy picks, I think that the redraft is an idea that needed to be brought to the table. It wasn't done with me trying to criticize. 

Ok.  The outpuring of support for my situation from some of the GMs in the league through sitemail was VERY nice to see.  Thank you all.  You know who you are.  I appreciate it.  Divorce is not great.  I was divorced in 2006, and I do get to see my kids on a fairly regular basis.  But Mom sprung a fast one on me, and asked me to take the kids for a 2nd consecutive weekend.  So, of course, I did.  Who wouldnt.  I appreciate the understanding.

I am at work now.  I do get an hour for lunch, and will be feverishly fixing the front page, and will have it all done by 10pm eastern tonight.

There will be no redraft.  I will make the time for tomorrow 9am - 8:30pm

Anyone missing picks, please pick tonight or tomorrow morning after I redo the front page as Blackmink has said.

There are 2 AWOL owners who I am drafting for.  I will have to try and give these teams away in the forums before we start.

Again...  thanks to all who showed support through the sitemails, and to all for staying with the league though (admittedly) it could have gone more smoothly.

Next version (1990-1999) will have the Stadium and part time hitter group as well.

This year the Stadium rule will be as follows......

Stadium must have been in use during 2000-2010
STADIUM EFFECT MUST BE BETWEEN 0.96 and 1.04 inclusive (example 0.96 good  0.97 good.  0.95 not good)
No exclusivity.  If people have the same stadium, so be it for this version.
