The Sons of Pitches are unofficially out of the playoffs
You made a series of ineffective moves chronicled here...  you still have the talent to turn it around though.  I expect you to be back in next season.
I agree - it also doesn't help having Rhodes and Flynn out for the season. The bullpen lost a lot of games.
Yeah, that hurt...  but part of it is your model.  You got in the mode where you decided to build you team around 3-4 nice hitters and 4-6 nice pitchers and then fill them with real junk.  The teams that last have deep lineups (which, incidentally score more runs...  I broke this down after your Garcia trade so I don't feel compelled to do it again) and serviceable guys throughout the staff.  Like you, I like to keep my IP down to like 4-6 guys throughout the post-season, but the rest of the staff is usually made up of guys who would succeed on any team for depth and because of injury.  When you get injuries (which is common because of your historical financial trends) you can never plug anyone of competency into those roles.

Your Salem team is defying the odds right now but you are going to wish the end of that lineup had some bats at some point in the playoffs.  I can't recall how many series my teams have won (my last two WS in DM at the very least if I remember correctly) because my 6-8 hitters carried the team.
I'm making some big changes in HR next season. Although I've made some mistakes - these moves got me younger and frees up cash to get some internationals moving forward. I still have work to do here - I'm far from finished.

In Salem - yeah - I'm pretty sure I'll be out of the postseason in the first series. I have 1.5 solid bats in that lineup. In a 5-7 game series thats just not enough. I could get lucky if my pitching continues to dominate but I don't like my chances against a balanced team.

Yeah...  you have a number of guys coming up on arbitration and new deals, but you have flexibility depending on what you decide to do.  Just balance the budget...  when you go whole hog into one area, that is when you suffer.

Why the **** is cricket on the ESPN front page?  That is one sport I just can't figure out.

Lidge out 3-6 weeks.

Don't know why it keeps getting reported that way - it's 3 to 6 weeks until he'll start throwing again - late May would be the optimistic view point on his return, as I understand it.

Ahh, that makes more sense.

Should be a typical season for him.  He will have 2 DL stints, two stints where he is lights out and 2 stints where is getting shelled.  There is no plateau with that guy.

Yeah, it really doesn't concern me. They've got a couple other guys that will be fine at the end of games, middle relief is one of the easiest things to find if you need it, and unless the rotation starts to get hurt or seriously underperform, they shouldn't need a ton of middle relief anyhow.

I've got my referee interview at 2:15.  I've thought long and hard about it, and I'm definitely going to ask if I can wear a ref shirt.

Good luck

You should just wear a referee shirt to the interview. Good luck!

I've already grabbed Contreras for $3 in the NL-only league.

That went pretty well, I guess.  I never know.  I think I'll probably get it if nobody with labor law experience applies.  I guess it's like 60/40 I'll take it if I get it.  Seems like a reasonable state gig, but I can't help but think maybe I should wait for a better job to come to me.

honestly, if i REALLY wanted to, youre right, i could. i just want to see if better options open up. im still being patient for now... maybe ill form a relationship... who knows. i dont wanna get too deep into it .
