he once did that for a result of mine, told me my result was a less than 1 in 1000 chance, of course that made me feel better about it.

While the defensive positioning feature of this game is not perfect, I think it does what it's supposed to do. I play a lot of + defense, and my teams are always among the best in the conference in 3pt % allowed. I have pretty good players, too, but I was winning with game-planning before I was able to recruit good players.

I have a buddy who lost a PIT game in Crum the other night by getting lit up from 3-point range despite playing +2. It can happen, although he was playing a 2-3 zone and you always have to account for that.

I agree with Daalter. You can't always look at how teams played against -2, or 0, or +2. Their opponents in those games were different, tempo could have been different, and it would take way too long to break all of that down. The bottom line for me is that if you're playing a team that shoots more than 15 threes a game, you're playing with fire if you go - defense. That's an invitation for them to bomb away, and if the sim screws up and lets a few more go in than the season % would indicate, you lose. Better to discourage the 3 and let them try to beat you from the paint and the line, in my opinion. I would rather my opponents get their points 1 and 2 at a time. If they're terrible, like under 30% from 3pt range, then by all means invite them to shoot as many as they want.

These are the worst results since I started tracking in season #17. Not only did WIS fail to keep any of the "promo babies" from season #22, but they are losing long-term coaches at the DI and DII levels.
Poor roll out of new features and poor overall customer communication are finally taking a toll on the bottom line.
The consumer is speaking...WIS better start listening.

I just dropped another of my teams...slowly (very slowly) I'm phasing myself out of HD. I keep waiting for WIS to do something to peak my interest, but it has yet to happen. it's still fun to check my results in the morning (well, most mornings) and recruiting is occasionally not frustrating...but overall I think it has grown a little stale. But I have been around for a long time so maybe it's just burn out.

I think for the first time ever, I waited until I got to work to day to check my game results.

I agree with this...when Tarek (Admin) was more hands on, things seemed to go much smoother and were explained a little better.

it would hold my interest more if I could win all my games and get every recruit I want. Those bastards at WIS have yet to comply with these demands. I might hang it up if I must continue to compete on such an uneven, unfair playing field.

Where's my Hoops Dynasty welfare?

are we seeing any kind of return at all from the link on foxsports.com?

I sent a ticket in a couple days ago, asking for a weekly monday morning update from Tarek (say to conincide with the afternoon sim in tark) - either a mass sitemail, or on a thread - got the standard "thx for the suggestion" .... I realize this would not be a fix, but one must start somewhere, and it would seem to be a small step in a positive direction, assuming better communication is something percieved as a need????

After last night's rollover in Crum (or least the period when you have to add a season to your account to keep your current squad) there were several solid coaches drop accounts. Cal_bears dropped his ranked Tulane squad following a NT bid, memphis was dropped after spending a couple of season being rebuilt, jsreilly dropped Vandy after a very long, very successful run there where I would think he'd be able to land any open D1 job that he'd want (he's a Vandy alum I believe), majresorter dropped his successful St Bonnies squad, and there may have been 1 or 2 more coaches drop out of successful squads in the top 10 conferences of HD.
I think OR's suggestion would be helpful. As others have stated, HD has become a bit stale. The 2.0 update was nice, but was only cosmetic. I think they could do a ton more things to improve the cosmetic look of this game and make it feel less stale. Here are some, though I doubt admin ever sees them:
update player responses and eval responses. Once you know a kids O & D, do you even bother to read evals any more? They don't tell you anything usefull. This could be much more insightful w/ potential as your AC could clue you in part of their potential w/ each eval. Each eval would continue to give you a little more info until you've had say 10 or so evals. Coaching calls should be the same way.
How many times does the AD send you an email about if he was in Windsor too long or did so and so come out of no where when you've been the clear leader on the kid for 6+ cycles. Make emails & response reflect reality better.
No more going from, I've never heard much about you, to my whole family graduated from state U, and unless somebody wows me I plan on continuing the tradition. If you're whole family went there, then you must have heard a story or 2 about my school.
I know the above 2 are minutia, but these responses need updating.
I'd find a way to include an AP style report (both pregame and postgame) for all top 25 games (and perhaps more, as well as NT, CT & PI games) I'm sure there is someone on this site that can make up 10-20 or more generic forms that would be used thru the coarse of a season drawing up statistical and recruiting data as well as hot/cold streak data on individual players that would spice these up and make them a worthwhile read. All the information is contained in box scores, team history pages, gamelogs, etc... that there has to be a way to add a feature like this.
Find a way to have more interaction w/ your players thruout a season. Don't just get emails from them when they ***** about playing time. So & so is really enjoying his opportunity to start, why not tell the coach. Again minutia, but it would spice things up. Heck, why not let us respond to certain questions a player might have in order to either increase the likelyhood that the player transfers, or perhaps gives him renewed hope for greater playing time the following season and perhaps increases his WE a bit. (hey there isn't much room for you, but if you hold tight, you'll have an excellant shot at playing 15+ min a game next year, maybe even start, etc...) Coaches reputation ratings would then rise/fall if kids transfer b/c you said they'd play next season, but are not.
Allow for mid season transfers, or perhaps allow for a kid that was told in the example above that he'd get more playing time next year if he waited it out a bit, perhaps he doesn't see it by the start of conference games, so he decides to transfer and immediatly leaves the team.
Expand in season recruiting. Perhaps allow us to send our AC out to scout regional games or national AAU events that give us a limited glimpse into what the crop of juniors, and sophs will look like following the current group of seniors that you'll be recruiting once the season ends.
Find a way to make freshman more usefull. Allow for the possibility that frosh will leave for the NBA early.
Get rid of the eval note that a kid will most likely leave early, if he even goes to college at all. That option is now out in college hoops, and never existed in HD. Might as well reflect the reality of both worlds.
I really like OR's thread. Give us a better idea of what you're working on, when its going to be implemented. Explain why things are being delayed, throw us a bone.
Start a testing world to test all game modifications so that game users can test things out and offer input/feedback.
Making use of VD's survey, or perhaps on HD creates on their own could help them. They changed Free throw shooting, though many didn't see it as a problem. They've seemingly changed the frequencies of injuries, though I'm sure most coaches want as few as possible, even if it doesn't reflect real life. Find out from us what we want to be "realistic" and what we want to be more "gamish"
Anyhoo, those are just off the top of my head. There are so many things that I think would be easy to implement/change in this game that I think would spice things up, give it a bit of a different feel. Many more than this. Heck things like additional recruiting responses could be written by HD users to allow for a ton of new responses.

Agreed -- communication generally ranges from awful to non-existent. It has long been my biggest (though not only, lol) frustration. And it's getting worse.

I guess I'm a creature of habit. I enjoy the game the way it's currently setup.
Of course, I'm also content to stay in DII and DIII with my 9 teams. Some of the suggested changes seem to only apply to DI. (i.e. leaving early for the NBA) If I had a DI team, I might feel differently.

They will do this w. potential. Although I agree w. your sentiment in principle ... be careful what you wish for.

Not huge things, but I totally agree. And it would be SO easy to do. Just makes you feel like they've gotten lazy and don't care.

Interesting idea. And again, not that hard to implement.

I'm torn ... I know they don't like in-season recruiting because it puts new coaches and coaches that leave in the offseason for a new program at a real disadvantage. I also strongly think we should be able to see two years worth of recruits, would make things more interesting and open up more strategic options/thinking.
Find a way to make freshman more usefull. Allow for the possibility that frosh will leave for the NBA early.
Agreed -- this goes back to the varying freshman IQ thread from a little while back, which everyone seemed to be in favor of in one form or another.

Communication is awful, I hope at some point they begin to make it somewhat of a priority. No more changing things without telling everyone. And no more changing things w. out getting some feedback first.
Start a testing world to test all game modifications so that game users can test things out and offer input/feedback.

Yes. One of the most respected coaches in HD puts together a comprehensive survey comprised of active coaches and (according to what he told me) they basically just shrugged their shoulders. The ft change was just horrendous; injuries are another good example. Talk to people and see what they want. Real life is great, but it's not more important than your customer base.
