The system's in place in order to control one-sided deals such as this one BigDrive. If I could have got Lipponen for a bag of pucks, of course I would've done the deal, but that's hardly fair. In my mind, it's all about keeping things competitive, and by association, keeping things interesting. For the record, I don't veto very often (under 5 times during MLD's existence) but when I feel I need to do it, I do it and to hell with what other manager's think. And to use your NHL example, the NHL's Board of Governors needs I believe a 2/3rd's majority to approve things like rule changes, franchise sales, etc. So to have an opportunity to object to a one-sided deal is something I appreciate.
