Coughlin's usually great with clock management but came dangerously close to costing his team a game. That Bradshaw TD run, he could have called for a knee to make the Pats use their TO - then kneeled again to run the clock down and kick the FG. That really could have bit them in the ***.
Bradshaw just told "Mike and Mike" that nobody mentioned not going into the end zone in the huddle.  It wasn't until the play started, when Eli gave him the handoff, that Eli said "Don't score!  Don't score!".  Which explains how awkward that play looked, as it took a second or two for Bradshaw to realize what Eli was telling him and why.

Makes sense.  If the objective of Coughlin was to run out the clock and take the FG, Manning would have centered the ball and took a knee.   No need to risk an exchange to make it a 28 yard FG instead of a 33 yard one.

Yeah, that does make sense.  I assumed they had talked about it and Bradshaw just momentarily last his head, but that explains what we saw better.

That being said, the more I think it about it, the more I'd rather have the TD.  Ideally, you'd make the Pats burn their timeout on the 2nd down play and then score, but if you'd going to have to give the Pats the ball back anyhow, I'd rather them need a TD, even with 30 extra seconds to get it.

I think they take a knee and force the timeout.   Then run the ball up the gut and hope for the TD then.   Of course, if NE has burnt their TO, they're not letting him run untouched into the endzone.    I'm not leaving it to the kicker.   He was awful tight on a couple of those FG.

the numbers indicate he did fine, but Tom Brady really hurt this team yesterday with 3 truly awful decisions

of course, the severe case of the drops that gripped the team in the 4th quarter didn't help matters either......

To be fair, both QB put passes where I couldn't believe.   Manning even moreso than Brady because I sort of expect Brady to complete everything.

it was a pretty evenly played game, in reality.....the difference being Brady getting picked and the Giants putting two balls on the ground but having the ball bounce directly to other Giants

ifs don't mean much, but if either one of those balls is a turnover, I'd say New England probably wins the game....

I thought, when the 2nd half started, that Belichick had outcoached Coughlin while Madonna sang.    I still believe that but the Giants caught a few breaks and played the field position game better.  Didn't NE start 3-4 drives inside their 10?

The Welker drop was a tough play.  He was turned around, jumping back and reaching.  He makes those catches more often than not, so you expect him to catch it.  But it was not an easy play.

The Hernandez drop was inexcusable.

Their TD drive at the end of the first half started on their own 4 (pushed back to the 2 with a penalty).

Correct.  Aside from the kneel down at the end of the first half, it doesn't look like the Giants had a drive that lasted less than 8-9 plays, so they were constantly moving the ball, and Weatherford pinned the Patriots deep virtually every chance he got.
