I wasn't trying to start a controversy.  Just curious of his strategy.  Many of these live leagues NEED 2 team owners to fill.

I realize that, so I would never put up a fight about it.  But three rounds in a row Josh took guys I wanted a handful of picks before I got them (Trout, Bender, and Vaughan), and I guarantee if I sitemailed him and said "I think x would be better on my team, maybe take somebody else," it wasn't gonna happen.

You realize that my Bender pick was 6 1/2 hours late, and in between my time slot and when I picked you had a draft pick, right? I actually had Cochrane at the top of my list but you chose him over Bender. There's not a chance in hell Bender would have lasted another 32 picks until your next slot. Zero.

(and I guarantee if I sitemailed him and said "I think x would be better on my team, maybe take somebody else," it wasn't gonna happen.)  Huh?  Really? Do you think anyone would do that in a draft league (owner of one team or two)?  The whole idea is get your guy before someone else takes him.    enjoy the season. 

Yes.  I think if a two-team owner says to himself, "hey, that guy would be better on my other team," he'll pass on the guy and hope he falls to the next team.

No one missed the point. At the risk of speaking for sjh, the other point is that it would be insane to say "I like this guy best; I'll pass on him and hope none of the next 10 owners takes him." If you pick between an owner's two teams, that gives you the chance to pick the player. If you follow both picks, you wouldn't get the player regardless. When fielding two teams, a rational person tries to make both of them as good as possible. In later rounds of a progressive with a limited player pool, it might make some sense to pass on a Brendan Ryan if your other team needs a shortstop. It would not make any sense to pass on Robin Yount. With a player pool consisting of every player in the data base, I'm only going to worry about getting the best player I can with each pick.

Still curious how you were screwed out of Bender when you passed on him between the time I was up to pick and when I actually picked.

Maybe I wasn't.  I wasn't screwed out of anyone, actually.  That really wasn't the point at all...

And yes, for you, it certainly wouldn't make sense to pass on someone until very late in the draft.  But for The_Taint, xygz, and verynice - all of whom have 0-1 picks between their slots - it's much more reasonable.

Since it's virtually impossible to fill a LIVE league, at least a 24-team league, without multiple-team owners, there's no way around it.  But that doesn't mean I have to like it.
