Let's not let the suspense linger. I've been trying to build a roster with your teams, BigScungil, and it ain't easy. It sure would be easy to dagger that studly '52 Musial, but geez you're gonna have to go with some mighty ugly choices elsewhere to roster a $9M player. I'm gonna let you try.
I looked at your pitching, and while there are some good ones I could deny you there are options for sure. The Dodgers bought you practically a whole rotation if you want it, and between them and the '52 Cards you've got good bullpen options too. No, I just don't see a single dagger there that really makes things impossible.
But when I try to build your offense, I do notice that backups start to become pretty precious spots. That position restriction really limits you. Where you really are limited is at SS. Let's take a closer look. ... The '52 Cards have $5.4M Hemus with plenty of PA and a really mediocre glove, and that's it. The '32 Cards have $2.8M worse defender Gelbert, and that's it. The '52 Braves have a nice glove $4.2M Logan, and that's it. The '82 Dodgers have my least favorite Dodger of his era, the man we knew best as "E-6" ... Bill Russell, who comes in at an affordable $3.6M. And the Dodgers do have one backup there, a $210K cheapy at the end of his career.
By now, you've seen the problem. You must roster two shortstops, and those are the only five you can choose from. Four of them cost at least $2.8M and have over 530 PA you won't want to use anywhere else. I'm sure you'll find a way out of it, but it won't be fun and will force hard choices elsewhere.
I dagger a guy best known as a bird, all but one year as a slick-fielding Oriole. But he finished his career as a scrub Dodger and his $210K salary as your only low-priced backup shortstop really would have helped you soar. So I have concluded I must dagger Mark Belanger.
As for parks, you've only got three to pick from. It's tough to know how this team will end up looking, but I don't see a team that's likely to want to be extreme in doubles (+3 in Sportsman's or -4 in Dodger Stadium). Braves Field is not extreme but good for pitchers across the board and seems like the best fit for a team that is likely to have some good pitching and wants to help them out. So let's dagger Braves Field and let you pick from the more extreme parks that likely won't suit your lineup.
Good luck!
