ok, im going for the deuce.  What do yall generally use for your GM names?  Made up or real names?

Yeah, the Superleague just started it's 10th season last night (so the 'Original Six - Pdiddy, Probie, Speedy, Atrain, Wylie and Me- have been at it for two and a half years. Finnski, Gregos, Rustybladez and Rydart are the other four owners in varying stages of building their franchises). Superleague has no salary cap.

The Deuce was started when a site glitch caused us to have no schedule in the superleague for season six. That one is headed for the end of Season 4. Original 6 plus Gregos and Rydart. The Deuce has a $35M soft cap (only means you can't sign free agents if you're over the cap - can still make trades, re-sign your own guys and sign your draft picks).

GM names? Fake - real?

If I were starting out now, knowing what I've learned since I actually started here's what I'd do. In fact this is what I DID do when I started my team in the Deuce.

1. **** players. My first expenditures were getting Marketing up to Level 4, Staff up to Level 4, and Building up to Level 3. That gets the cash flow started for when players worth spending on show up on the free agent list.

2. GREAT time to start. You will have the 1st overall pick in the draft, and IF YOU'RE PATIENT, TWO free agent pools to pull from. At midnight after the last game of the finals, the free agent list will be flushed and replaced with all new players. Get the best of what's there now, but keep some money in reserve for the best of what will be there in the offseason. There is NO doubt in my mind that if this were my first draft, I'd use that top pick on the goalie, Norbert Gaylord. In fact, I DID use my 1st TWO draft picks on goalies (cue Pitty and Speedy - "DAMN YOU BRAIN").

3. Be patient. You have no hope of winning a Cup in year one. Don't quit midway through your first year when Probie, Atrain, Speedy, Gregos and I have each beaten you 12-0 or worse. We have a four-season head start building our franchises and developing our players. Around the end of your 3rd- early 4th season, you will be in a position to compete. Although with only nine teams and eight playoff spots, you may have a decent shot at the postseason sooner than that.

up to you

Ok, im in.  Am I just building my team out of the free agents right now?  Do I want to fill my team up now or keep a few open spots?  Basically, what should I be looking out for as a complete newbie?

you're signing a minimum of 18 skaters, two goalies and a coach (coach counts toward the salary cap BTW) before the start of next season.

Like I said above, I wouldn't fill them all now, the whole list will be turned over at midnight after the finals.

Also, the free agent list is refilled on every hour. So if you sign, say 10 guys, 10 new guys will be there at the top of the next hour. Until you assign your coach, your team doesn't really exist, and you can cut guys without penalty.

Under normal circumstances, once you're up and running, a player gets 25% up front as a signing bonus (ex. guy's salary is $1M. Whether you sign him for 2, 3, or 4 years, it'll cost you $250K upfront to sign him), and you have to pay 50% of his remaining contract to buy him out if you want to cut him (ex. you signed the $1M guy for four years and he sucks. to cut him, it'd cost you $2M -50% of what's left of the duration of his contract).

My advice would be to sign everyone to 2-yr deals. There are a bunch of advantages to that.

Sorry, missed your last post in the shuffle.  good info.

OFFENSIVE PLAYERS: in order of importance, the attributes you want are OFF, SPD and SHOT (shot is the average of shot power and shot accuracy)
DEFENSIVE PLAYERS; in order of importance, DEF, STR, SPD.
COACHES: starting out, training is the big thing you want by a longshot. Also inexpensive is nice, it saves $$$ for players.

Everyone needs stamina and attitude. High potential is good especially in younger players. Tip: if you see an 18, 19 or 20 year old with an overall in the low-mid 60s, he may be vastly underrated. Take a closer look at his attributes. The sum of the parts may be greater than the whole, and his overall will skyrocket the 1st time he improves.

Ok, wont let me upgrade facilities until I have a team.  Suggestions?

try signing one player and see what that does for you. See if it gets you on the map

Halifax hires my other brother Brain as coach. LMFAO.

Also, don't let the records scare you too bad. We're pretty much all 24-0 against the AI teams.

Where do you see the draft prospects at?

Yea, Ol' B-Grund is a natural born leader.  He was destined for this job!
