He's the one I'm glad they are bringing back.

Stalberg filed too.

Maybe he'll try hard all the time.

Out of the 3 Frolik has the most upside in my view, so I'd keep him first. Stalberg would then take priority over Campoli. We'll know by August 4th! :-/

Troy Brouwer signed for 2 years in Washington, for 2.35 million per year! I liked him, but not THAT much.

That also means the Caps fall further over the cap and a trade may be imminent.

For 20 goals and 200+ hits $2.35 is a good price imo. More than Talbot, Less than Leino, Same as Voracek/Brunette.

Semin has 1 year left at $6.7 mil. He could be dealt.

I understand that's what the market has been set at, but it's still too much for what essentially amounts to a 4th line player. He never could crack the top 6 and was given multiple opportunities to take the LW1 spot next to 19 and 88. He may still turn out to be a top 6 forward, but he wasn't going to do it in Chicago. the First round pick was a nice return though.

Semin or Green will go...Carlson makes Green expendable at this point and a team trying to reach the floor might like him as he can still be very effective when healthy...similar to the Campbell deal.

I have to admit though.....I might not think the hawks are a better team this season than last.... but I do think they will be more exciting to watch.

It might not necessarily equate to more points, but they'll definitely be tougher to play against.

Any way you slice it, Olesz, Brunette, Carcillo, Mayers, Montador and O'Donnell are a physical upgrade over Brouwer, Kopecky, Dowell, Pisani, Johnson, Campbell and Hendry.

Off-topic a bit......I'm kind of dreading the re-alignment.  As badly as the NHL messes the simplest of **** up, how badly are they gonna mangle this when it happens?

Hope I'm not stating the obvious but it all depends on when/where Phoenix moves... and if anyone else does by the time that happens, even.

Yeah, that does factor in.

However it shakes out, it'll be just another conspiracy by Bettman to deny the Canucks a Stanley Cup.
7/6/2011 10:17 PM
Not that that's a bad thing.

This is the theory I've heard the most:

4 divisions...

East                                                        South

Boston Bruins                                    Florida Panthers

Toronto Maple Leafs                       Tampa Bay Lightning

New York Rangers                           Carolina Hurricanes

New Jersey Devils                           Nashville Predators

Philadelphia Flyers                          Washington Capitals

New York Islanders                         Pittsburgh Penguins

Montreal Canadiens                       Detroit Red Wings

Buffalo Sabres

Pacific                                                   Midwest

San Jose Sharks                                 Colorado Avalanche

L.A. Kings                                             St. Louis Blues

Phoenix Coyotes                              Minnesota Wild

Anaheim Ducks                                 Ottawa Senators

Calgary Flames                                  Dallas Stars

Edmonton Oilers                              Columbus Blue Jackets

Winnipeg Jets                                    Chicago Blackhawks

Vancouver Canucks

The first round of the playoffs would be divisional match-ups, 1 vs. 4, 2 vs. 3. The teams would then be re-seeded by conference and again, 1 would play 4 and 2 vs. 3. While I don't necessarily agree with the above positioning of every team (I would be sad to have Chicago and Detroit in separate divisons for example), I think having the first round be divisional match-ups again is an absolutely fantastic idea that will spawn many new rivalries and even re-kindle some old ones.
