PACKERS: Datone Jones is latest DL bust drafted Topic

Brett's a Jet.

Terms undisclosed as of yet, thought to be conditional draft choice, starting at 3rd or 4th, possibly as high as 1st.

Looks like a 4th rounder for sure, if Brett plays 50% of the snaps this year it becomes a third-rounder, other possible improvements if Brett plays even more snaps and the Jets go to the playoffs.

They're saying that McCarthy was asking Favre questions like "When I leave on Thursday night will you still be here watching film?" and Brett said "I don't know."

Sucks that the conditional pick will make me have to root for the Jets.

I'm a Ted Thompson fan (though I think he could've handled this situation better) so I'll be pulling hard for Rodgers (as should all Packers fans).

I'm born and raised Packer fan, but I've never felt lower about the franchise...and yes, I clearly recall Lynn Dickey etc.
Rodgers isn't good enough to start in this league, which we'll find out soon....but, yeah you have to pull for him.
Ted Thompson however, makes me a bit ill.
I like the kids they drafted, and that's the silver lining of disallowing Brett to come back. When aaron breaks a foot, toe, or toenail and is done for the year, we'll get to see the real future Qb of the Packers.

*I'm just a touch bitter. just a touch

I don't understand why a lot of people have already given up on Rodgers but think Brohm will be a good QB.

Because they because begrudge Rodgers for being the guy who replaces "The Guy" ...how does that saying go?
8/7/2008 4:50 PM
Have you seen him play?...even in college I never got shivers.
He's not particularly tough, or strong, or mobile, or athletic, or dynamic...If we are really going to start playing smashmouth, then he might be the guy, but I think when he freefell on draftday they were correctly assessing him.

Just my take, and I am way more excited to see it play out than the offseason Favre drama.

I believe the saying is "Tedford-developed quarterbacks suck."

Yup, that is pretty much it. What he has shown is that he is frail and has a weak arm.

Rodgers looked much better last night in Green Bay's first exhibition game than he did in the Family Night scrimmage a week earlier. Packers lose, 20-17. Rodgers led two scoring drives and completed 9 of 15 passes, with a few drops among the incompletions. He was sacked twice, and appears to have emerged without major injury. YAY!

Rodgers looked good, if Driver hangs onto the first ball thrown to him and Rodgers hits the wide open James Jones it would have been a very good outing. His pocket presence/awareness wasn't very good but hopefully as he gets more experience that improves. Much better than the scrimmage. Didn't notice any booing either so hopefully the Packer faithful have gotten it out of their system and are "ready to move forward".

Hurt once again by dropped passes, Aaron Rodgers looked pretty bad in the Packers' second exhibition game at San Francisco last night. Indecisive and ineffective, he completed only nine of 16 passes for a paltry 58 yards. The O-Line looked pretty awful as well, and Rodgers was sacked four times.

The original plan was to pull Rodgers after about 30 plays but the offense was so pathetic that the team played him the entire first half in a desparate effort to generate some kind of confidence-building drive.

Rodgers looked much better last night in the Packers' third preseason game, a 27-24 win at Denver. Playing against a not-very-imaginative defensive scheme, Rodgers completed 18 of 22 passes and led the team to scores on four of the five drives he played.

The defense was gashed badly up the middle again and is generating no pash rush from the front four. Several "starters" suffered injuries in the game; expect to see a lot of backups next weekend as the Packers try to ensure they have some players to take the field against Minnesota in Week 1.

Minnesota is going to gut 'em right up the middle 40 times.

2007 first round pick Justin Harrell put on physically-unable-to-perform list (meaning he will miss at least the first six games of the season), and running back DeShawn Wynn has been released.

Other cuts include fullback Ryan Powdrell, wide receiver Chris Francies and offensive lineman Ryan Considine.
