16X16 League Draft! Topic

I don't think having a reliever quota will solve much, because those are going to be the cheap guys that people nominate for their teammates in the first place.

It wouldn't help our staffs much if there were 64 versions of Kent Mercker-like careers that we all had to divvy up and use.

1938 Carl Hubbell

Mel Ott at 3rd shouldnt be bad...

Excellent pick. I almost took him, but desided I needed Ott in the OF and I liked 29 a little better. I think Ott 38 is better than Schmidt.

1978 Mike Schmidt

Love that version of Ott. I kept trying to figure out a way to get that Ott on my team, but since I missed out on the really good Delahanty years, I knew I needed the OF.

Pains me to get rid of Concepcion, but the 1993 Blauser is better so 1993 Kent Mercker.
11/3/2009 2:25 PM
1985 Tim Raines
11/3/2009 3:03 PM
1976 Johnny Bench

And maybe we won't see Ed Delahanty playing second base after all...

I'll take Schmidt 1979. I now have all my starting position players and enough quality innings!
11/3/2009 3:54 PM
Kent Mercker 2000 and the red *** Darin Erstad

I suspect that most of us are getting pretty close to this state of affairs, with 139 picks still to be made in the draft (we're less than halfway done!). I appreciate that we're now on the clock, but if we're making one pick per day, we still have 8 days to go before the draft is over, and I imagine most of those are going to be pretty inconsequential.

I submit that one of the things we'll be thinking about to make Version 2 of this even better will be how to expedite the second half of the draft. Maybe make 2 picks at a time after round 9?

1987 Dennis Eckersley. I for one still have a few roster slots to fill. Eck just became my long reliever.
11/3/2009 4:18 PM
Still like one pick a round. Only have 16 picks.

Heh.... about time somebody grabbed Joe Morgan and a few other Cincinnati stud hitters.
