Aside from that, everybody else seems to be playing by the rules for the most part.

I advise everyone to f'n think before you bid.  If you're going to change your mind 2 minutes later, the situation could have been avoided with 2 extra minutes of thought.  Very simple.

I am taking all bids off the board for Seattle's infield temporarily.

OK, so both umdterp397 and deanod have accused someone of deleting a post.  Anybody want to shed some light on this?

* Honestly some simple mistakes can be made... I've almost double bid myself... maybe a $5 million fine is enough of a hit without crippling a team's buying ability.  $10 mil total at the most or else I think a team will have a hard time keeping up... just my 2 cents...

I'd say let's try and reset the bids & clock where they were at before any invalid bids like you were suggesting.
The maybe extend each bid 24 hours to adjust for the confusion/give guys a chance to see where things stand....

As far as deleting bids... unless we have a voucher... just let it ride... fine is gonna be steep enough...
We're almost through- let's jsut all be careful the rest of the way...

I'd tend to agree.  But I'm still sorting out exactly what happened here.  I am starting to untangle the insane mess.  umdterp's bid on Seattle is invalid.

I am giving both toddleduc and tarheel1991 the option of restating their bids on SF from earlier today.  If they both do, the highest bid would be tarheel1991 at 10M as of 6:44 today.  Neither person is required to do so.

That's it for me tonight.  Anything else can wait until tomorrow morning.

I have a quick rules question.

Say a player has spent 88 million on four units. They then spend their last 12 million on their last unit, completing their team for exactly 100 million. Do they become officially bankrupt at this point?

I think this matters for the 2 player draft that happens after the supplementary draft. If I've understood the rules right, first we'll have a draft of undrafted units for players who ran out of money before they purchased five units. (At least one player will be in that position.) Then we'll have a draft of undrafted players, with the order being most remaining money to least, then the bankrupt players in order they went bankrupt. I was wondering whether the player I described in the previous paragraph would get the last pick (assuming they went bankrupt right now, and so were the first to bankrupt), or a middle-ish pick, because they would pick ahead of all the players who didn't buy five units in the auction?

brian, in regards to the two questions you've put forth:

1.  No.  I will differentiate between teams that have spent their 100M to get all 5 units and those who came up short.
2.  If there is a transaction that involves money, it will affect your draft position.

* I'm fine with my bid staying on San Diego IF per your earlier post yesterday:

"Since toddleduc put in the last legitimate bid at 6M and the bid of 8M is invalid, he'd have no reason to raise his own bid.  So his bid of 6M at 1:15 A.M. is the leader right now."

Just let me know how the timestamp works so I know if it's sold or not & when...otherwise I'll have to jump in on some other teams.  Thanks !

Umdterp is leading the SD bidding after bidding $11M and deleting his post.

did umpterp know the staus of SD and SF were in hiatus when he bid. this is why i think notice of errors/problems should be placed in the actual bid forums where they are more apt to be seen.

did umpterp know he was high bidder on yanks inf when another owner was incorrectly listed as leading that auction?

agreed. I know the commish wants to keep the bid thread clear of unwanted posts. But when most of us quickly jump on to the site to check the status of our bid, we don't always have the time to comb through the discussion thread to read announcements.
11/10/2010 12:25 PM (edited)

To try and clear the confusion:

1.  As for the posting of announcements here, it's a lot easier to keep track of the bids for me if that's all that I'm looking at in a specific thread.  It's complicated enough keeping track of everything as is.  It's just easier for me if all the bids are in one place.  I'm not sure how having to comb through bids and announcements would be any easier, except that you have to open a third thread instead of just the two.   If it happens again and there's a slew of invalid bids/confusion on one or two particular units, I would be willing to make an exception and post something about it there as well as here.

2.  No auction was in hiatus.  The 24 hour clock never stopped on any auction.

3.  Umdterp397 never told me he bid because someone else was listed as the leader instead of him.  He said a bid was entered and deleted.  Unfortunately, I did have the wrong bidder listed, but the date, time, and amount of the bid was identical to his last bid.  I also stated (just for cases like this) that the board is unofficial and to contact me if there are any issues with the board.

So what the fu-- ias going on with San Diego IF ??

Is umdterp's invsible ghost bid beating mine ?? And if so what time ??
this is getting a bit much....

IF he bid $11 and deleted it... why should he be alowwed to keep it?
And What TIME was that deleted Bid IF it gets to stand ???

"IF he bid $11 and deleted it... why should he be alowwed to keep it?"

This makes a lot more sense than making a bid and being allowed to delete your way out of it.
