Well, I'm a federal employee, so I can't overtly debate politics at work. And I don't disagree with you that condemning one bad government and not another is likely to be a cover for ulterior motives.
What I am saying is that somebody else being worse doesn't have to make Israel good. Again, I'm not even embracing a position on the Israeli government here. But this is the same logic as replying to criticisms of Trump's character or questionable actions by attacking Hillary and Obama, an extremely popular debate tactic of the far right in recent years. Ultimately, it doesn't matter if somebody else is worse. That doesn't excuse Israel, Trump, or anyone else to do whatever bad stuff they want as long as it's a least one level below their peers in the eye of some beholder.
I would not characterize the Israeli government as evil or oppressive. I can see why someone might. And that doesn't necessarily make them anti-semitic.
