On an unrelated note, I got rid of cable and built a pretty sweet streaming media center that is essentially giving me more content, sweeter interactivity while paying 80 less dollars a month. Â I don't know that anyone around here gets geeked out about that sort of stuff though.
That's pretty awesome, actually.
Have a Mac Mini upstairs that is using a few different applications to download and sort everything I would ever watch shows-wise (although I also have Hulu Plus). Â Most of it is stored on my router/external drive. Â I access that through an application that also houses some programs that let me pull live streams of common TV stations. Â This gets mirrored to the Apple TV downstairs. Â It is all controlled by my iPhone or iPad which serve as a remote for everything.
It is pretty sweet. Â If I feel like using the computer upstairs, I can mirror at the application level or use the native features on the Apple TV. Â NFL games that I want to watch that aren't on the regular channels are a challenge as I haven't found a way to stream NFL Redzone yet.
All this will change dramatically if the Apple TV 3 ever gets jailbroken.
