Final cuts include running backs Vernand Morency and Noah Herron, seventh round pick Brett Swain (WR), and d-lineman Daniel Muir and Conrad Bolston.

Long snapper JJ Jansen, injured blocking for punter John Ryan on a long run Thursday night (precipitated by a bad snap) was put on injured reserve, so the Packers will need to cut someone else to make room for a long snapper when they sign one. Thomas Gafford, who was in camp earlier this summer, was expected to be released by the Bears today.

Some observers think a veteran QB will also be signed since second-round pick Brian Brohm is clearly not ready. This likely means the exit of seventh round pick Matt Flynn out of LSU, who clearly outperformed Brohm this summer and may very well refuse to sign on to the practice squad if he feels slighted by the team.

The Packers did not make any waiver claims this weekend, first time under Teddie that happened.

D-lineman Daniel Muir was claimed by Indy.

Packers apparently plan to sign one of the three long snappers they had in for tryouts this weekend.. practice starts again tomorrow.

Packers have signed a new long snapper: Brett Goode. He was preparing to pour a concrete driveway when he got the call. No indication as to who will be released to make roster space for Goode.

Flynn named #2 QB, Hodge and Ryan cut.

New punter Derrick Frost also signed as the replacement for Jon Ryan. Not clear why, as Ryan has outperformed Frost the past two seasons and doesn't appear to be injured.

They cut Ryan? WTF???

What is the freaking point of cutting the punter with the 3rd best average among current active punters?

Plus he dominates running the ball.

Center Scott Wells, recovering from vague "trunk" injuries, has had another setback and looks doubtful for the opener.

The Packers coaching staff hinted this week that Ryan was let go in part because of his inconsistent hang times and his slow release time.
