Heh, yeah, my approach to ICM was to get the gist, read enough of other people really doing the calculations, and just add said gist to my general "play by feel" approach.

I'm a tweener. I'm arguably too patient/tight in tourneys, but have never been able to play cash patiently enough to grind consistently.

ICM lost me when you are suppose to fold hands like AK on the bubble when the button pushes. It leads to buttons pushing with any two cards because calling has to be such a great hand.

I mix it up the best I can but I dont fold AK on the bubble of anything besides maybe a sattelite.

My thoughts are even if we all talk about strategy here it will help us in other areas so come WSOP 2010 there will be a new group of hot shots taking over the poker world... the WiS guys... only we need a way cooler name.

I have a baseball jersey all set to take with me next June when I go. It'll have a 75 on the back with BIGSHAFT written above it. There will be no missing me.

we can talk about the correct way to play any hand but if we dont mix up our games and play 88 different everytime we will get killed. So is limping the wrong move there? sometimes it is..... sometimes it isnt? I know I for one might have limped hoping for a bunch of callers but willing to call or rerasie anyone who wants to play.

You have to mix up your game but I don't think you can do so as much in the late stages of the tourney that we are talking.

There is no time to get tricky at that point.

I for one like to play hands that I have no business playing on the cheap just so I can show that I am willing to play any hand. and when they hit there is nothing better than hearing or reading all the donkey phrases...

I disagree When you have no idea what I am doing I have the advantage. When people are playing by the book I have the advantage.

If I played by the book on Tuesday I dont cash.... instead I won

How much can you mix up your play with 88 on the button with 4BB? Push, Fold, Limp. Limp is just going to get you in trouble unless the flop comes 8 high and one of the other 2 has the case 8.

The problem with your logic there is that "the book" these days includes many chapters on how to combat loose play efficiently.

It's a matter of degree. You definitely want to show up with junk from time to time to keep them on their toes. But if you play a lot of volume, playing like Durr or Farha will lose you money over time unless you are ridiculously good at postflop reads

well I didnt look at the chip counts but if that was me I push 80% of the time. the other 20% i limp and hope someone raises and than I get all in.

Also, we're not talking about limping 88 50 bbs deep. We're talking about endgame. If people are playing optimally, limping gets more and more dangerous the shallower the stacks get.
