Hehe. I guess I should have read the next page before posting.

Here's an example of a guy who'll also get screwed over. He was just too old when the world started - but was one of the best pure hitters and on-base guys in its history - http://www.whatifsports.com/HBD/Pages/Popups/PlayerProfile.aspx?pid=263717

Hey Patrick any thought to makeing the hall more friendly to non power hitters by having Lifetime Batting Average and Lifetime OB% criteria for an automatic nomination.

This guy has the highest career OB% in Capra but does not meet the other criteria and I am sure there are others like him.

patrick, I think their "problem" is pitchers who "float" between the two roles.

Say a guy is a SP for 8 seasons and gets 170 IP per season. Then, due to age/injury, he become a RP and pitches 7 more seasons getting 55 games/70 innings per season. The concern is he neither qualifies as a SP or a RP.

I'm wondering if we should lower the minimum requirements all together. It looks as if some high quality players might not make the cut and that doesn't seem right.

Like I said before it's not a difficult change, so I'll see what becomes of it when I run the queries tomorrow.

Someone mentioned earlier about a 10 season requirement. Let the worlds sort it out. That might be a little unwielding but it would be a good start. Maybe require some games played/pitched. 1000 games played for position players, 250 games started or 350 appearances for pitchers. That would allow low durability catchers a shot and SP turned RP.

Why would they do that?
Everyone hates Todd Curtis.

This is my biggest issue as well. They should wave the 10 season rule for players who were generated when the world started. There are some players who put up amazing numbers for 5 - 9 seasons but were 30+ when the world started. Let each world choose to sort these players out for themselves.

When the HOF was first discussed in a Dev Chat there was talk of teams being able to elect a HOF/Ring of fame type honor specific to that team (like how major league clubs retire numbers or have monument park or whatever). Along with the league-wide HOF, which is awesome, is a team-specific HOF like this still in the hopper?

In addition, does HBD save the data not just on the MVPs and Cy Young winners, but the players who finished in the Top 3 or Top 5 of each? I feel if we're going to relax some of the guidelines, those things could be a help.
