He was brought here to do what he did last night....get in front of the net, screen the goalie and knock in the garbage.  He's also a team leader and a great clubhouse guy.  We signed other guys to pitch in physically and they've done so.  Mayers was great last night, btw.  Lots of energy and grit.  

Brouwer could have done that, and do it with 200 hits, more speed, and at the same price.... and he's 12 years younger.

As I claimed in the offseason - Hawks needed more grit in the top 3 lines... not the 4th line.  They had it in '09-10.  Don't believe me - look what the team is capable of when Bolland plays.  Its like the Hawks have a whole new scoring dimension. 

Anyways - Time will tell.  You will see.  I'll add it to my predictions that have come true about the Hawks ;)

We turned Brouwer into a draft pick and got  Brunette for a mere $1M more than Brouwer got.  Brouwer isn't a 1/10th the leader Brunette is, which is what we were after when we signed him.  Getting that leadership and presence for $1M is like stealing.  If Dainault pans out, it's a huge win.  Brunette will be gone next season and a kid will get a shot.  If we don't win this year, it won't be because of Brunette.  If we do win, Brunette will be a big part of it. 

And keep saying we won't win.  You said that in 2010 too.  Then this happened.....

If I said the Hawks wouldn't win in 2010, I apologize - I don't believe I ever said the Flyers were the better team, but I was certainly rooting for them.  Time to photoshop an older muddy in that pick so we can show what it will look like in another 49 years before he holds that cup in Chicago again ;)

Every damned one of you haters, from training camp to the close of game 6, said we had no chance, were too soft, had no heart, were chokers, had too many players more interested in banging trannies in Vancouver than in winning (like none of us here haven't banged a tranny in B.C. once or twice), and had no leadership.  No matter what the Hawks did, it was the same thing.  Then we won. 

And I'm hearing it all again.

My first post in the flyers thread was 8/2/10. Would have been around that time in the hawks threads as well. Hawks had one hell of a squad... its a shame management ****** it away. Their 3rd liners all recently signed $5mil contracts... that says a lot.

No Hawks 3rd liner has a $5M contract.

Frodo was a steal at under $2.4 per year, btw.
